Here are three razors bought in pretty rough shape that were not only brought back to life by Scott at Northshore Razors but customized to look exactly how I wanted.  If you are a staunch vintage razor traditionalist you might want to stop reading here.  The following graphics may be too disturbing for you Wink

The first one I had done was a '55 Red Tip or Heavy Gillette.  With it so heavily being associated with the color red and being the most agressive shaver of the flair tip family, I could only think of one concept or theme for it.  A Deadpool razor.  I sent Scott the razor and emailed him a drawing of what I was thinking and he worked his magic.  It came out exactly how I imagined it.

Next came a 1964 slim adjustable.  I was a teenager in the 90's so when I hear '64 all I can think of is a 1964 Chevrolet Impala.  But I also wanted to give it a theme that seemed fitting for the time the razor was made and used.  So I looked up a few '64's with factory paint jobs and the first one that jumped out at me was the greenish blue that was pretty popular back then that you still see on classic cars even today.  Along with chrome bumpers and badges.  So here is another one of my favorite razors.

At this point I thought I was done building my vintage Gillette collection.  I had all the razors I wanted (or at least could afford) but then one day I was just doing my daily searches on eBay and Etsy and realized that I don't have a Lady Gillette yet!  I knew right away I wanted to do a Harley Quinn them from the new Suicide Squad movie at the time.  I had some really specific ideas and was worried to ask Scott at Northshore if he would be interested in doing them and he pulled it off perfectly without any problem.  From the picture I sent him to the finished product was dead on.  Two different color doors.  A third color for the white back ground and alternating red and blue stars on the neck.  Not to mention it shaves like a dream.

These are three of my favorite razors in my collection and I just wanted to share them with you all. And it might answer some questions about the weird razors showing up in some of my future SOTD pics Big Grin  If you haven't checked out Northshore Razors and are thinking about getting a razor customized you should definitely look them up. Thanks!

Jeff, ordinarily, when most of us think of customizing a razor, we think of something a bit more low key.  However, what you have had done with yours is just flat out fun.  What a great direction to take your razors and it just goes to show why so many of us think of shaving as more than a day to day ritual but, rather, a hobby.  Thanks so much for sharing these. Really cool concepts, executed perfectly, it seems. Thanks for sharing!

Northshore Razors is based in Hawaii, correct? Were shipping costs and times much different than CONUS shipping?

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

Thanks!
Yes it is in Hawaii. And surprisingly no extra charges for shipping. Cost me the same to send a razor to Hawaii as it does to send one to Nebraska. Haha.

That’s good to hear. I might look into having them do something for me in the future.
