I'm fairly well satisfied with the following blades (in no particular order): Gillette Nacet, Gillette Silver Blue and Wizamet Super Iridium.

Being the cautious type and wanting to hedge my supplies against future shortages/outrageous price hikes, I'ld like to add two additional blades to my lineup. Maybe something smoother and/long-lasting? Cheaper?

Proud owner of old-man-gray beard, course and dense.

I don't mind trial and error (working my way through blade samplers) but have more faith in the expertise residing here.

Thanks Folks. Truly appreciate any help.

When I was looking at blades a while back to run in my Fatboy. I too liked the Gillette Silver Blues. I also liked the Voskhods as well. My whiskers are pretty course as well. I get 5 good shaves out of a Voskhod and the price is still very reasonable. My $.02

Have you tried Astra SP and Perma Sharp blades?

Those are my favorites and are currently cheap on Amazon… at the moment

Paul did you jump on the 100ct of the PermaSharp's that were <$10 on amazon? I've never tried them but there seem to be some fans, I've never been into buying that many of a new blade but the interest level of others makes me feel like I'm missing out on something... damn FOMO  Tongue

Your top picks are somewhere in nearly everyones top 5 blades.  I suspect you are looking for recommendations of blades which will be easier to source in the future...from manufacturers outside of you know where.  Therefore, some of my favorite alternatives are:

Personna Med Prep (USA)
BIC Chrome Platinum (Greece)
Lord Silver Star Super Stainless Steel (Egypt)
Tatra or Tiger Platinum (same blade, different packaging) (Czech Republic)

I recommend getting a tuck of each and making a decision after trying at least 5 blades of each type, in different razors.  For me, the BIC works best in my aluminum RR Lupo, but does not work as well in some of my other razors.  Also, you may like a blade now, but change your mind in the future, as you find other blades you like better.  Remember, everything in shaving is YMMV.  Have fun on your blade journey.

Yep, I loaded up at $10 per 100. Love Perma Sharp.

I’m right with you on your top three. I would add Personna IR and Rapira Platinum Lux.

The Personna Platinum Chrome (ie, Israeli Red) is my top blade, and the Rapira Platinum Lux is in my top 5 as well, so I endorse the above statement!
Cool

I also suggest the Personna Platinum Chromes, esp. because of the 3 blades you like.

I recently bought 100 pack of the current version from Germany and think they’re great. I would not pay much more to get the old production from Israel.
