Not sure about the looks, but would love to read the reviews about how it performs. I hope you early birds get yours quick.

How would I go about purchasing one?

A couple of shaves in and it shaves well, as smooth as my .61 SB. Definitely a keeper. I would prefer a little more weight in the handle but it will make a great travel razor. Here it is next to my .74 the finish is a uniform matte, I like it.

Other than the weight, how did the smooth handle work for you? Any issues with slipperiness?

I've used the original handle a couple of times and there is nothing to be concerned about regarding it being slippery. I had zero issues.
