This may not be a popular post but I am noticing a new trend in the BST.  Sellers, especially new members with little or no sale history, are stating a price “ NET TO ME”. Why not just post the price you want including the costs you know you will have? This site has clearly stated all sales using PayPal should be Goods & Services so there is that cost and the cost of shipping.  If I buy from someone I know I will pay friends and family as there are many members on this site, and others, that I have become friends with over time, but if I don’t know you then it is Goods and Services, especially if you have no history, or very little history of seller feedback.

I agree. I've almost commented on some of those listings asking to clarify, but ultimately didn't as those weren't items I was interested in anyways.
The way I interpret "net to me" is that you have to add shipping and paypal fees to the price listed. But then I've seen "net to me" and that the price includes shipping so it doesn't make any sense.

I said in another thread (as someone who's never before sold here, but has current listings) something similar. I've bought and sold tens of thousands of $$ worth of high end audio gear via enthusiast fora, and I just won't even respond to sales threads with such terms. YMMV. Why put the onus on potential buyers? Factor the expenses into the asking price and proceed from there.

Maybe the reason is sellers are sick of buyers who want everything for free.
If something is listed for $10, plus $5 for shipping.... And then the buyer says "I'll take it for $10 shipped"

It's probably just a way of weeding out annoying and cheap buyers who want everything for free.

This is just another way of stating the old "if paying G&S, add on PP fees". Again, why can''t you just say $105 instead of $100 plus PP fees if paying through G&S. Makes things less complicated. Besides, the convenience of PP far outweighs the fees you give up. In the days before PP, you would have to hope that a check or money order cleared, and if it didn't, you were out your item. There is also the part about saving some money in shipping if you use PP shipping label and the convenience of just dropping the package off.

Listing it either way does not prevent the low ball bidders, just discourages many others

I may be a bit slow on the uptake today but I don't get how separating out the pricing/expenses discourages low-ballers or change expectations. I think most buyers are only concerned with actual cost of acquisition. or at least they should be. Obviously there are always outliers.

I've noticed too...only because I've had my BSTs blocked for this very reason.  Rule 5 below was pointed out to me.  Maybe I'm just special like that.

Quote:5- Please list the full price of all items being sold.  If you want $100 for an item shipped, then don't ask for $100 plus 4% for paypal fees if someone doesn't want to pay as a gift.  Sending payments as a gift to someone you don't know violates the PayPal TOS, which we highlight here: https://damnfineshave.com/thread-sticky-...t-payments

Just report those posts - that's what I do. Mods will take care of the rest. Also, I think commenting on price when a BST rule is broken is fair game.

I've noticed them too. I avoid them.
