I also said you make great product, and I'm not the only one who prefers hard soap...and by definition changing from the irregular to the regular would.be described as going mainstream.
I don't fault you, as I stated, I am just discouragwed by one of the best hard soaps disappearing when there are so few comparatively to the softer ones. That's a factual statement.
All i said in the Hard Soap category T&S was unrivaled. In the softer soaps there are many who I feel are the best at any given time.
So I apologize if you think I'm talking badly, I thought I was pretty clear about my opinion of your craft, and my belief in your right to make money.
For the record I ordered 2 of the new soaps from your website in the first hours they were available. Again, like I said im sure it will be good.

I'm a bit confused by this hard vs. soft soap comparison. I've got two of the new T+S soaps en route (which I'm excited about), and own a tub of the old version of Classic. My tub is no "harder" than my tubs of P&B, B&M, or many others. The hard soaps I enjoy are I Coloniali and Tabac (although Tabac is softer). Maybe my collection is aberrational, but I Coloniali is a far cry from legacy T+S.

I had 4 T&S old formulas and all of them I grated with a cheese grater and packed in purely bowls. If I tried to grate my B&M , that wo ild be a no go. But no matter what, the Tallow & Steel guy DOES know how to make quality soap.

I've never grated any of my soaps, so my experience is not as close to the ground as yours is. I respect that. Some of the hard soaps I have, such as T&H, are even more firm than I Coloniali, and for my hand and brush, are unusable. On the other hand, we have L&L, which is a soap, not a cream, that is soft, but not quite as soft as XPEC or Meissner Tremonia creams. What I'm trying to say is, to me, there's a continuum of hard to soft with no binary demarcation.

I just checked my old T+S (Y/R/P, Shag, Rainforest, Dark, and Grog) and I do not think that they are hard enough to be comfortably grated, unlike Klar Kabinett for example, which is really hard and could be easily grated. I also compared the old and new T+S soaps and, while there is difference in "hardness" it is not that significant.
Like I also said I haven't received mine yet. I ordered strait from T&S. Inalwasy try and do that because I know they make more money selling direct...just didn't think about them being in Canada at the time. Ugh...so I watch my mailbox daily. If it's not that noticeable then Yip Yip..i just am burnt on the croaky stuff.
Also, if it's not hard enough to grate, them I wonder what was in those 5 find I grated. .... I may have to investigate. Lol

Was expecting Morocco to arrive today, but instead, it arrived yesterday. By the time it was brought inside, it had been sitting in a black mailbox at around 40° C / 105° F for an hour or three. The consistency of the soap at that point was indeed similar to that of hot porridge.
I took the opportunity to try to swirl the soap back into its place on the bottom of the jar. Some hours later, the soap seemed fine. Yes, it’s a soft soap, but even soft soaps tend to develop a slightly more dense and uniform consistency once a brush has been working on the surface a few times.
As for the scent — holy smoke! Yes, it’s smoky. Initially reminded me of Meißner Tremonia’s Strong ’n Scottish, and Razor Master’s Toivo. I keep opening the jar to get yet another whiff, and it’s really growing on me. The scent is less sharp and more complex than the aforementioned two soaps. Can’t wait to actually shave with it, and see if the scent opens up even more.

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”
