New Supply Pro / SE Razors

Shave #7 (4 with a Schick blade)

Very similar to the previous 3 Schick Shaves - 3 relatively smooth passes (4.5, 3.5, 2.5) with touch up mostly along the jaw line. The proraso lime was excellent as usual and I’m smooth and smell great before bed. Does anyone else use this dollar general brut?? Works pretty well and doesn’t dry out my skin.

I want to give the Supply shaving cream a try at some point - which scent do you guys recommend?? Thanks.

Hi all, hi Patrick!

My advice to Supply would be to give much more detailed advice for first-time injector shavers - videos, pictures, slow-motion, zoom-in, etc..  There isn't enough info out there and if you want to convert cartridge/other users, make it easier for them to switch to the Supply.

Some folks say that one can't cut themselves with it, I am living proof that is simply not true at all.  It is very easy for me to get nicks if I let the angle drop and start to hold it like a double-edge.  Experienced SE shavers probably don't remember the initial challenge.  I'm up to the challenge of learning and excited to do so, especially with the Supply razor!  We just need to know it is quite a bit different.

You are 100%, completely right. We need to do a MUCH better job with our "onboarding" instructions. By chance, did you happen to use that QR code we sent out? We're designing a short SMS onboarding flow and we have some improvements to make that we're working on literally right now.

I've seen your comments about cuts / nicks in some of your posts, and I have to be honest - this is a bit of a head scratcher for me. We're not getting a lot of complaints of nicks, so I'm inclined to believe that there may be something off with your razor. I'd love to inspect it myself and get a new replacement sent out to you, if you'd be open to that? If so, please reach out - patrick@supply.co

Thank you so much, Patrick, your commitment to your customers is commendable!  Yes, I did the QR/SMS onboarding and also went to the Supply blog site and read/watched all the help posts.  I attribute my nicks to my technique, not the razor, but if there is an issue with the razor I got, I'd love to know and fix that.  I'll send you an email.  Thank you again!

So are you guys finding the silicone sleeve is necessary for maintaining control of the razor? I've never used a Supply before... If so, it makes me wish the handle had some knurling or at least some ridges/grooves for grip. Not loving the look, nor the need to keep track of the sleeve.

Still, I remain interested in the adjustable Pro. I am extremely busy these days, but gonna try to stay up to speed so I can know when these become available to order.

No it isn’t “necessary”, but it does provide significantly more grip over not having it installed. The matte finished Supply razor isn’t “slick” without it per se, but it definitely gives you extra reassurance.

I can’t comment on the mirror finished ones in regard to their slickness with soap on your fingers - it might be a more significant difference. Anyone with mirror finished supply experience??

I admit in hind sight the ribbed grippy spots on the side do seem unconventional. But that is right where my fingers go with this razor. I have tried my best not to impart my own expectations on it and just use it. It really is nothing like using a DE razor and is even a bit different than vintage injectors.

I feel like the Injector razor the Supply Pro mimics most (albeit still different) is the modern Parker Adjustable Injector. The Pro has a MUCH wider adjustability but has a narrower angle of use in comparison. I’ve read that the V2 Parker gets more aggressive / efficient than V1 at higher settings, but I haven’t used V2 to compare.

without feeling one of these razors in my hand and just based on photos alone, the added rubber grip is kind of ugly, in my opinion.
