I haven't had Sheep Dip in years.  The name aside, it's delicious. Big Grin

Hi all,
I have about 9 people that have expressed interest in giving my soap lines some test drives. I would like to have 6-8 more people willing to take some samples for a spin. The larger the pool, the more info, translates to better soap in the end. DFS is the only site I am openly asking for testers. One site I am not a member of and the other site requires I have an active site selling soaps to solicit soap testers. Since I am only test driving a car at Detroit proving grounds and have no cars for sale, I don't have a car lot with zero cars for sale to make me legit. So...DFS and crew, I am relying heavily on your knowledge and preferences to help me refine my product.

And I have to publicly thank andrewjs18 for allowing me to do this. Of all the wetshaving sites out there, Andrew has created a true community in DFS and I can't thank him enough for allowing me, and others, to do this. It really makes our wetshaving community stronger.

Once I have collected names and addresses I will make a trip to the USPS next Sat to ship out all the test pucks. I do want to ask for 1 guy to test my "straight sheep" shave soap. It is pure sheep fat without any veggie superfat added...and it is scent free. But...I have used it...and it has issues. It is extremely lamby in scent, and has disappearing lather syndrome. The lather melts in the bowl without regard to body heat. But, it's as slick as wet ice on ice. The person who tests this one needs to know this in advance. If you are quick with your lather then brush to face it works superb. But the strong scent and melty lather really is an issue. Tester beware. But I have to offer my soaper more than just my feedback, and its part of the process of making the best soap we can.

On a side note I have been busy getting my Farm Market ready for the Grand Opening, and that was yesterday. Since I have a bit of down time I can refocus on my soap line. I don't normally post images of myself on the interweb but here is a press release of my day yesterday. Hope all is well you DFS members.

That's very cool about your opening and the local event! Are you able to do shipping on your proteins or just planning on doing local sales for now?

Right now I use 3 different butchers and I know 2 of them are Illinois USDA inspected, and the 3rd one might be Federal USDA inspected. I am REQUIRED to use USDA inspected butchers for what I do, but I can only resell Illinois inspected meat in Illinois. Fed inspected meat can be sold outside of Illinois. But I have had zero interest for my products outside of Illinois. If I did, I would have to do research on how to actually do it.

Long story short, only local for now, but there is possible capability to sell outside of Illinois.

Amen!  seems like the mini-packing house will be my kitchen! Where and when do we place our orders? It’s like a farmers market here at DFS

Take the Amtrack down to Duquoin with a cooler and some freezer packs. I can pick you up in the Daveli meat wagon and take you to my shop. Bulk purchases are encouraged Smile

Ribeyes are going quick @ $9.00 a lb, but I have alot of T-bones left. Same price. I have a pile of ribeyes cut super thin for sammiches. Season, brown, and eat.

Oh, I have 2 freezers of ground lamb and lamb chops. Haven't sold any leg of lamb yet. Lamb is $10.25 per lb....regardless of cut.

Coming soon...porkcicles and man candy.
