New SE razor - the Rocnel

Some of you may already be familiar with this small company out of Istanbul as they already have a rather attractive DE razor on the market (The P1):

It come in a very attractive wooden box (and I believe the new SE will as well) - looks like something PLANofMAN might like

Rocnel hand-machines their products and according to their site they are able to product three razors per week.

They use a wide variety of equipment - from new...to old Japanese machines from the 1930's:

Anyway - the new offering is a SE razor.
The Rocnel SE uses DE blades snapped in half and is still in pre-production taking pre-orders but I believe they are ramping up to start production very soon if not already.
The price for the SE razor that you see online, is, I believe a 'deposit' of $25 that you make towards the final purchase of the razor. Not sure what it will cost in the end.

Oh so the $25 is just a deposit? I've been following this for a couple weeks confused as hell as to how they could make a 316 razor for so cheap.

I didn't realize it took a DE blade snapped in half. That definitely tempers my excitement a bit. I was hoping for a SE that uses GEM blades. Hey, a guy can dream.

Just another way to capitalize on the wet shaving craze. It would be nice if it accepted SE blades (Feather,etc) but it doesn't so I will pass no matter how cheap they might wind up being. However, it does look like a nice piece of machining.

I was more interested but if a DE snapped in half maybe not so much. I agree that it is great looking work though and will certainly follow as it gets closer to release.

Believe it or not - but I heard back...and the 25 dollars is for the entire razor!

My pre-order is in. And no, no need to give any billing info - it's just to get onto the list.

Me too. It's a sickness I tell you. I had just emailed Murat and he added me to the list.

$25 is nuts.

Surely one of the virtues of an SE/injector razor is the thicker, stiffer blades, leading to a smoother shave especially for coarse whiskers. Snapping a DE blade in half makes this a lot less interesting to me: at that point, I'd rather just use a DE and get the advantage of both edges.
