Two thoughts:

1) Is there any reason to be concerned about the long unsupported span of the safety bar with out a connecting bar halfway down the span? I'm wondering how sturdy this design will be in the long run. Could it bend or break at this point with one slip out of the hand and a fall to the countertop or sink?

2) Any plans to make those round pegs that hold the blades in place longer, more like the slot-shaped pegs that Mongoose uses? Seems it would be easier to make sure the blade is centered in the razor head. Or do you have some other means in place already to ensure the blade is centered (side-to-side) when loading?

Hi Andy,

1. Since we are in prototyping stages, all options are open in terms of adding a center support. We perhaps will do that for the final version. Will see. I want to see how much blade flex will result from only end supports. Even adding a center support won't eliminate any cracking or bending of the safety bar at the thinner ends where not supported.

2. We went with longer blade tabs for Version 2 prototype and it caused an assembly issue. In order to correct it, we needed to drastically modify the blade tab hole design, which I didn't like. I decided to go back to shorter tabs. The blade will be centered nicely and not fall off the tabs like Mongoose users expressed before.

Would an open comb make it easier in terms of stability? That would eliminate the need for the slot and/or support (but then again, I have no experience in designing a razor). Plus, it would be the only AC SE with an open comb Smile

Yes, an open comb would make it more stable. We will most likely develop an open comb version eventually.

Our GEM SE may be an open comb! Smile I worked a tad on it last Friday. Smile

I am very interested in the final result of this razor.

Are we expecting a cost margin in the same range as Mongoose and OneBlade for this guy, or will this be more attainable to the "every man"?

Or has that not even become a consideration yet?

I bet you're hoping for that GEM creation, right? That would be great. Smile

BadDad,

The General will be priced lower than the Mongoose aluminum version. We are not set on an exact price yet.
