Sounds real good. Hoping the s/s prototype is a success. I prefer the extra weight of s/s in a razor. Will be watching intently......
FWIW........ The Brass General has been reduced Gents to $69.99. Great opportunity to get an awesome razor at a greatly reduced price. Don't know how much are left, but at this price who knows. If you like good solid weight and balance with a smooth but extremely efficient shave from your razor, this is it....
I've been using the brass General for the last few days with a regular Feather Pro blade. I have been very impressed with the shaves.
As has been said before, this razor does not SEEM to be aggressive, but the shaves are very close, comfortable, and effortless. I recently had the opportunity to compare it to the Cobra Classic and the Asylum Rx and I found that I like it way more than the Cobra. The Asylum Rx seems to be more aggressive, but I'm not sure that the overall shave was any closer than that of the General. The General was definitely smoother in use and less of an adventure.
Machining and finish is nice, without being outstanding. It feels nice in the hand and very solid.
This is a very nice razor at a very nice price. Great job, Colonial Razors!

It's posts like this that make our day! Thank you for your brass General shave report! Happy shaves!

The Brass General is an excellent razor across the board in all aspects. Looks, comfort, simplicity and execution. And being brass just gives it a touch of class plus, the potential of them never being produced again gives the razor a sort of rare exclusivity. All the rage has been with the SS and rightfully so, it’s a damn good razor. They are both equals when it comes to giving a satisfyingly smooth and efficient shave. Would you be missing much if you owned just the SS version and not the Brass? No actually, just an extremely minuscule amount of more blade feel with the SS over the Brass, to me at least. I love them both, but I just like to look at the Brass General more. It’s a hell of a looker.........
