Rockwell has a new option, or at least to me, for their Chrome series of razors. It is the 2C. It's available in both colors and comes with one plate - the number 1 and 3 plate.

This community is mainly experienced folks. My opinion is that it isn't a great fit as the #1 side of the plate is truly for newbies. The #3 plate is good, though the #4 hits the sweet spot. It would be better if it came with the #2 - #4 plate. Pricing is $30.

Even for a newbie, I'd just get the 6C. They can mature in their shaving and "theoretically" never need another razor. And it's only $50.

I agree Pete. I had a 6C on loan and tried all of the plates. 4-6 were nearly all the same in terms of efficiency, but I liked 4 the best for the slightly less blade feel. 3 was okay, 2 too mild and 1 was useless.

I totally agree.

I agree on #1 being useless. When I was testing beginner razors I tried the #1. I was unable to get a shave I would go out in public with. There was a section on one cheek where it just wouldn't cut the whiskers.

Great discussion - I have the 6s which very quickly became my daily razor. I've never used the #1 plate so I can't comment. #4 is my daily plate with the occasional
3 and 5, rarely plate 6 which I do find gives a lot more blade feel without that much of an upgrade in efficiency over 4/5. Lately I've found that #2 works good if I just want a quick, decent shave and I'm not concerned about getting the 5 o'clock shadow around 3. I used the ikon 102 slant yesterday with a feather blade. That used to be one of my favourite combos but it just doesn't stand up to the Rockwell. I don't see using the 102 again....unless I forget which happens. Big Grin Part of getting older I suppose.

I'd also agree with spending the little extra to get the 6. I have the 6s and can get a great shave from most of the plates. Plate 6 works best for me and my 6s is probably my favorite razor. Typically I prefer middle of the road in terms of aggressiveness, so had I not gotten the 6 I never would have found out how awesome it is.
