Gillette holds no patents on any double edge razors any longer, as far as I can find. Patents are not permanent, and they have not produced a new type of adjustable DE razor in many, many years that would warrant a new patent...

Thanks for the heads up... this could become my New Shaver Kit razor! My 6s is a solid performer and very happy to support this latest Kickstarter iteration. Can't wait to learn more during the AMA session next week.

I'm looking at their kickstarter page and see that they say their DE blades (100 pack) should be good for about 2 years worth of shaves. that's pushing a DE blade to 6-7 shaves per blade. seems a little bit of a stretch considering most DE blades get tossed after 3-5 uses, if that many.

Almost joined cause it looked like built from SS materials, but then I was hold on a second it cant be because TTO's are not common to be build with SS.

So I went back and started reading, watched video and came to the part materials build:

- Outside parts: All brass - coated = GREAT

- Internal parts: Zinc.................. Why???? ( well because its cheaper, it has nothing to do with great corrosion resistance) - once water and soap residue enters there, parts are moving from opening and closing the doors, friction has to happen, when there is a friction coating gets worn out with time, plating is gone and zinc gets exposed to water.... bye bye Zinc and hello there rusty nails. There is a reason why the Gillette TTO's are all brass, look at ebay 50+ years of constant usage and they still survived!!!

Love my 6s but this is a bad move with the Zinc internals, if it would of been brass internals I would of jumped even if the kickstarter was at $130 starting price.... Damn!

I agree, 2 years seems about double what I'd think is reasonable, not sure what their logic was. Regardless, I'll back this campaign. The first time around was a lot of drama, but turned out really well in the end and the 6S is an excellent razor. Hopefully this one will be as well, with fewer bumps along the way.

For the sake of the backers I hope so too, but I'm dodging this one because its ZINK internals. Although I love the 6s 2nd version, but the internals on this one is a no go.
