Have flown almost 3M miles in my life.  Safety razors opened up usually are not an issue (take it out of your luggage and present it open so they can see there is no blade in it.

Blades will never get through.

So do you just buy blades at your destination?  I have given up on trying to sneak anything through TSA and just rely on the hotel having a crapy Dorco disposable twin blade at the front desk.

Check a bag or use a cartridge for the week.  I do find topcare blades in the US supermarkets made well from Personna

I can't use a cartridge for a week. I have a pencil mustache so I have to shave between the top of the mustache and my nose. The head of a multi-blade cartridge is too big to fit and I can't see what I am doing. The Pearl has a very thin head and I can get a good line and close in under my Nose. I guess what I am asking is could it get through TSA with a blade in it? The half DE blade is tiny, and the plating on the razor makes it almost look like a disposable. Anybody have a feeling on this? I guess the worst that could happen is that they make me leave the blade behind?

Not as a carry on, TSA may confiscate the entire razor if you put a blade in it.  Check the bag and you are good.

Checking you bag is the only full solution. TSA can confiscate a razor blade or a razor blade holder, full or empty.

I'd recommend looking into the Bic Metal and Kai Gold-S disposables. I've used them both, and I included some pictures that I took of them below.

They could take the whole razor. There have been reports of TSA agents confiscating DE safety razors even if there isn't a blade in the razor or bag.

Yikes!

They won't even let you take the blade out?

Before they had discretion to allow a blade-less razors through. However, this changed last year, now razor holders (empty or full) are not allowed. Carts are however.

Well, I guess I will not be traveling with Pearl's "The Sleek", and will be keeping a disposable SE in my kit bag.

Stickshift, thanks for the disposable SE suggestions. The disposable SE's that I have from Walgreens are terrible.

As of today, "the Seek" SE razor is "out of stock" on Pearl's website. This has been the situation for some time now, so I suspect it is not just Q.C. issue but may be a vendor/subcontractor issue. It may also be that they are tweaking the design (new castings?) to make quality control easier.
