Everybody that purchased this razor seems to agree the fit and finish is outstanding but not for $300 made in China with fancy packaging and using a new blade every time you shave. And to top it off you have to use what appears to be a fairly hard blade to get the Feather single edge. I am sticking to DE and waiting for the new Single Edge to be shipped next March. For $75 you get a fully stainless steel injector razor with three heads.

A company comes out of nowhere, claims to have made the worlds best razor and offers and unlimited generational warranty and tells us to change the blade every shave.

Then charge $300 and put it in a fancy leather pouch to class it up and offer blade subscription.

Pass.

All evidence has been buried. All tapes have been erased.

This razor seems to have received a lot of flack here. For one your not forced into a blade subscription, if you choose the subscription the blades are cheaper other wise you can just purchase blades without the subscription right from them. In terms of recommending to change the blade after every use I'm sure all blades were meant for that but we continue to use them for longer as I do with the one blade. At 300$ a razor yes it is a steep purchase but also included is a nice stand which other razors do not include without extra purchase and the r&d this razor had to go through I'm expecting as not a cheap endeavor. Which ever you choose to get one or not this is still a very nice efficient mild and one of the best built razors out there and hope them the best in longevity as a company.

I'm not sure about cartridges, but I could certainly keep myself in Feather AC Professional blades until my fifties (I'm 27).

People spend more than 300$ on brushes that perform the same or even less than cheaper ones so price factor is really a subjective thing.
If this hobby/daily routine was all about price we would all be shaving with EJ DE89s/other cheap or vintage Gillette razors. Same goes with brushes and soaps.

I agree. I would rather spend 300.00 on a top quality razor than a brush anytime. I never understood 300.00 for a brush. I do however understand the engineering involved in a razor like this.

The most interesting thing about this razor is that it uses the somewhat more traditional SE blades; the spineless Feather SE. This would be the first modern SE not built around the Feather AC type blades.

One thing I don't like is getting my blades from them. I would be surprised if I couldn't find them cheaper than they are selling them for. When they call them "our" Feather blades it is pretty obvious how much they value them. Also, this blade will be the only blades to work in this razor so the name OneBlade is fitting in more ways than "one". No other blades to try so you are stuck with what you get. Unless you feel like de-spining GEM blades but even then who know how much more modification might be needed for them to fit.

Not only are they charging a high price for the razor but they also want to rope you into a blade subscription. Oh yeah, and to get the best save possible you should only use each blade for a single shave. So a new blade is what they suggest for every shave. I can easily get 10+ high quality shaves from these blades.

Here's the info on their blade subscription and razor cost:

OneBlade Stainless Steel Razor and Stand
60 Single Edge Blades
$299.00

30 Blades Shipped every 30 days for $27.95
Blade Subscription Starts after 60 Days

So this works out to about a buck per blade after shipping (which is about what it cost for Feather AC type blades. I can order 30 Feather spineless blades right now from Connaught for $18.58 including shipping. 120 for only $50.62 shipped. So if buying in bulk you can easily get the blades for almost half of why they are charging.

Regardless, I'm still interested in this razor. Just allow me to buy the razor alone without the blade subscription & the price would need to be a significant drop.

Mantic loves this razor, he discusses it in a podcast with Eric Hodges and others, and I think he reviewed it on sharpologist. For a number of reasons the razor leaves me cold, starting with the price, and including the fact that currently the blade it takes is the only game in town. I have suffered acute RAD, but even at my most obsessive, I think I would feel silly for spending $300 on a razor that didn't come with a barber. I do understand that others will feel differently and race to buy this, if only to add it to the collection. And it might be the most comfortable, efficient safety razor ever made. I'd love to try one but I won't buy one. But I high five anyone who does, particularly if they love it.

I have owned a OneBlade for quite sometime now.  I was just as skeptical as some of you are or were.  There was only one way to find out, so I purchased the razor.  This razor is one of the best razors I have ever owned and I own some fine pieces.

Like some members have mentioned, price is subjective, specially given the fact that some people will spend the same amount or more, in brushes and even handles.  So to criticize based on price, is kind of silly IMO.

I have no regrets about this razor.  This is the only razor I have used which the alum block has never been necessary.

Like everything shave related, YMMV, and this case is no different.

I think that you can use  carbon steel Feather Seikan blades in the Onerazor.  Coincidentally, I ordered some for my Valet razor right before I checked out the Onerazor link.   I sent an e-mail to Onerazor asking them to confirm that you can use them.  They probably don't recommend it due to the rust factor but no one who buys one of their razors would ever leave a blade in it.

BTW, I bought a case of 240 Seikan blades for $90 delivered off of Ebay shipped out of Japan.  That works out to $0.375/blade.  I don't need that many but should not have to order anymore for a very long time.

Wonder how the Onerazor stacks up against a mild DE like the Feather AS-D2?
