Just Here for the Shaves
Williamsburg, KY
Have only watched half of the video but Matt explains everything very nicely in this live video he did. I'll watch the rest later when I get a chance and I wish him great success!

Never used a slant, but my go-to razors now are adjustables set on (generally) the low end of the dial.  Rocnel, Muramasa, Taiga, and - the Rex.  I've had the Rex now for a few years (N4), and actually like it - a lot.  One of the first, if not the first SS adjustables made in the US, and a full range of adjustment.  It does have some blade exposure, but on 1.5 for me it's not aggressive and provides a great shave.  The best grip on any razor I own, and superbly well made.  Because of same, Konsul now on order.  I appreciate good engineering, and look forward to a different experience with the Konsul and hopefully a new friendship with the slant concept, without jumping into a 45 degree Salvador Dali contraption Tongue . Thanks for the innovative development Matt!

I just put in my order for the konsul. Happy to support a US vendor and that shave video did not show an ounce of redness or irritation. Good luck with production!

It's a very smooth shaver.

Looks like HLS aren’t far behind with their slant version of the Taiga adjustable…

Good to have options, it will be interesting to see how they compare.

I watched the shave video on YouTube of the HLS slant.  It is a 20 minute video of a guy shaving slowly and getting cuts all over his face. Variety is good. Konsul is gooder!

Looked like he had that thing set on about a 1/2" gap.  A braver man than me....   Confused

In correspondence with HLS I was told their new slant would not be cheap in price. I believe that Tatara, with its adjustable safety bar, might be the winner in this category if they were to produce an adjustable slant. I am a slant fan and when you have a slant with large gap, like I do, you have to be extra careful while shaving. My concern with gap opening adjustables is that you will likely encounter too much of a wider opening (the territory I like shave in), if adjusted to such extents. Tatara addresses the gap differently. Still, all this is very encouraging as these new razors enter the market.

I'm with you, although we seem to both be in the minority. Of the Beta configurations I tried for the Konsul, my favorite setup was the one that gave me the largest gaps.

I don't know if I watched the same video as you and wish it was in English instead of Russian but the one I watched wasn't exactly a bloodbath at all. Did he have a few weepers, yes, and what I thought was the 1st one was actually some sort of blemish on his cheek that was obviously opened up on a prior shave that he re-opened when he started the shave. I'd also point out that he was using a proto-type and it looked like it was opened full bore which usually is never good at any time, much less with a slant!! It seemed when he dialed it back down he was getting much better results though.

I'm not in on either one of these slants but if I had to choose one it would be the HLS version you posted a pic of as the aesthetics are more to my personal liking as well as it actually looks like a slant where the Konsul looks exactly like the Rex and doesn't even look like a slant at all...
