Hey!

Just wanted to say that believe Ruds and wyze0ne about the new milksteak base.  I was fortunate enough to procure a bit of tester and it is absolutely the slickest soap I have ever used, and I have a considerable shave den (new to DFS, not new to wet shaving).

Declaration hit it out of the park.  Easy to whip up that shiny, rich lather.  Whereas some elite tier soaps have a small 'sweet spot' with regards to water, milksteak has a considerable range where the magic happens.

As I said, slickest soap I have ever used.  Tried a couple of razors with it and the slickness was astounding.

Post shave was fantastic as well.  I usually use a post-shave product, but tested this both with and without, even without a post-shave product my face felt soft and supple.

Ruds nailed it with the 100 shave score.  It really lives up to the hype.

Thanks also for the write up.

I've always respected Ruds reviews as he seems to be on point with how I rate most of the artisans in his reviews and Declaration was one of my top soaps. Definitely going to get a few of the new base

I loved the Bison Tallow base, never tried the Icarus yet. I think bison tallow was close to perfect already!

It is the slickest soap I've ever used and it is very easy to dial in. It combines the ease of use of the bison base with the upgraded performance metrics of Icarus, but dials the slickness up to 11. The residual slickness is especially impressive. In fact, I just used it again today (after using other soaps for a few days) to knock down 3 days of growth and it was an excellent shave. The addition of 3 different milks really amplifies the post shave conditioning for my skin. Even though I used some CL toner post shave, I've found through my testing that any aftershave or balm is not necessary to leave my skin feeling soft, supple, and moisturized all day.

Massacre of the Innocents is a dupe of Parfums de Marly Herod, hence the name. It's an awesome scent that I don't believe has ever been duped in the wetshaving space before.

I am trying to reign in my SAD so between the darkfall and the new massacre which one would you recommend getting if you only had to get one?

Well, I already have Darkfall in the bison base plus 2 bottles of aftershave so I'm getting MOTI Smile. Herod is a truly awesome fragrance IMO and the dupe oil Scott used is spot on to my nose. It's a warm scent that is well suited to the upcoming seasons with tobacco, cinnamon, vanilla. It's in the same realm of APR Fenchurch or Stirling Haverford (Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille).

That being said, I also love Darkfall which I am going to grab the EdP of with this drop. It's a darker, smokier scent with a touch of oud. I don't know if this helps, but hopefully I gave you a better idea of what the scents are like. I guess if I were in your position, I'd go with Darkfall because I like to support original artisan creations over cologne dupes. Cologne dupes sell though so I can't blame anyone who does them.

Thanks Jeff!

I like darker scents so am probably going to go for the darkfall. If the Massacre is like TF Tobacco Vanille I think you can find similar scents else where so I won't have the fear of missing out with this scent! Thanks again for your opinion.
