New DE razor on Kickstarter - the GCR Flash Suppressor kit

I'm normally pretty excited when I see a new razor being potentially brought to market but for some reason I can't really drum up any level of excitement here. But hey, to each his own so check it out!

They look pretty nice but I wouldn't buy one. Triad actually made an AR-15 handle that looked much better. Still, those are attractive and I'm sure plenty of people would buy them. They look too slippery to me though, and unbalanced weight wise possibly.

After my experience with a different Kickstarter I will never invest on those experiments again.

I agree on the issue with balance.
I'm surprised though that they can offer the razor at $60, made in aluminum in the US. The manufacturing of that head is not completely straight forward. It almost makes me think it's a zamak head...but as they said otherwise I guess I'm wrong

Ah, just received this reply from them on Twitter in regards to the heads:
"The handles and stand are made here in Oklahoma. The head is not, it is a Zinc Alloy with Chrome plating."

pretty ugly handle, IMHO.

It won't fit in my shave cupboard as its too tall when put together as most of the time that's where it will be. They didn't mention about the head and how it shaves. I get the theme & style of the razor but there is nothing special about it that gives it a wow factor to me. Poor pitch sale I thought as well, as any razor can be used outdoor. P.S. Synthetic brushes are best for travelling & outdoor, as I find they dry out quicker.

It looks like a EJ/Muhle DE89 head - thats probably how they can keep the price low.

Just like all the other Proto razors in the works, I'll pass.
