Like China cares about patents LMAO.  Look at the $10 Futur clone for a quick reference, or Ping golf clubs, or whatever else they can copy without penalty.  And people will buy it.  Anything that is cheap.  It's why people shop at Walmart with their store items being from there.  Nobody cares, and yes it is sad, but it is true.

I think the Chinese translate "copyright" as they have the "right" to "copy" something.   Cool

Isn't that the truth Smile

Look forward to the video.

Just in case anyone is interested.... I commented last night that I just received my OB Core and upon opening it was greeted with a defective razor. Immediately I could see a visible crack on the left side and on the right side it had jagged edges as if someone took a small bite out of it... This impacted my ability to insert/remove the blade properly. Just in case anyone is wondering... I do not have a Genesis model so that is not skewing my expectations in anyway... I understand the logic that those with a Genesis may be more likely to find fault with the Core but to assume this imo is a faulty perception. Defective is defective regardless of prior experience with another razor... if it's damaged, it's damaged... very black and white.

Anyway, I just wanted to update you guys hoping maybe this would shed some insight and possibly help some of you in the same situation. So, as I stated last night, I contacted OB right away and requested either a replacement or my money back... they got back to me today and apologized for the damaged razor and said they are sending a new Core razor right away... I received a confirmation email so it should ship soon. So for those wondering, you can get a replacement if yours is defective. I am however uncertain if you can simply return it for a refund, but there 30 day refund policy seems to indicate so... If anyone knows for sure, please fill us in!!

If my replacement razor arrives in good condition I will at least be satisfied... Even further, if it shaves great and looks good with no issues, I'll consider myself happy despite the previous issues. I just hope this next one is in good condition. I want to be a fan but thus far it has been tough.... I can at least say they made an effort to replace it which will really count for something if it arrives in good shape. Time will tell. But if it arrives "beat up" looking I will simply return it for a refund this time... Hopefully that's not the case.

Thanks guys!

US and EU retailers care and I doubt would be offering the Mingshi were the Futur still patent protected. It does matter, it's why people obtain patents. Whether it matters to a Chinese manufacturer obviously depends on the target market.

You CAN return your razor for a refund. Used or not. 30 days from receipt. I returned mine and am receiving a refund.

If you return the razor do you have to pay for return shipping or do they send you a shipping label?

In my case, the razor was defective and they sent me a label, however, I am not sure that is the case if you choose to return the razor, because you simply don't like it.

Nope that's exactly the info I was after. I haven't received mine yet, but if its defective from the get go I would hope that I don't have to pay for return post.

If it comes down to the issue that I simply don't like it I will either pass it on or try to figure it out.

Thanks for the info though.

OK, maybe I got lucky again with OneBlade.

I was an early adopter of the v1, and as I've mentioned several times, I hate that I love the stainless version, because it produces a great shave with no thinking and no technique. SharpSpine knows what I mean.

I had a couple of small customer service issues with the v1 (for example, the leather box had a rounded bottom) and they resolved them quickly and without question. I know others have had issues, but my experience (luckily) has been excellent.

Shaved with the Core this morning. No issues with insertion or removal of the blade. I can see a tiny flaw at the back of the razor just below where the blade is inserted, but I had to squint to see it. If it hadn't been mentioned in this thread, I doubt I would have noticed it.

The blade seemed to 'float' a bit when inserted-maybe this is the characteristic of the v2 that they were promoting.

The razor is a bit 'handle heavy', but no different than when I put a heavy SS handle on another razor. It didn't feel unbalanced to me, perhaps I just adjusted unconsciously.

The shave was outstanding. I'm not a fan of mild razors, and if I 'rode the pivot', i.e., put the flat part of the head against the skin and let the pivot do the work, it was too mild for me. Could hardly feel the blade.

When I steepened the angle, i.e., the handle more perpendicular, I could still feel the pivot working a bit, but the efficiency was increased. Still very comfortable.

With a usual amount of touchup, was able to get an irritation-free BBS shave. Still can't seem to get the area right under the nose, but took care of that with my trusty Schick 66.

I got this razor as a travel razor, but I've got to say it very well might go into the rotation.

Third shave with the CORE

I usually never pass a judgement on a shaving gear before trying it at least 10 times (unless it's a soap/cream that burns my face or I really dislike the smell). But I did that for the CORE (First shave impressions, Second Shave Impressions). And I have a feeling I will regret jumping to conclusion so early.

Just finished my third shave (same blade). I must say I got a near perfect BBS with 0, I repeat 0 irritation. I am getting more and more comfortable with the blade angle. There is just one place (south to north on right side of neck), I cant seem to find the angle that shaves something. But after 3 passes I can't feel any hair left.

I suppose once I stopped worrying about the blade stops coming off and concentrated on the shave, the razor started to talk to me.

I look forward to using it more and keep you folks posted. (No buyers remorse anymore, at least for now)

EDIT: Like Michael above, I also found riding the pivot alone isn't the way to go for me. I used DE/SE techniques and let the pivot work in the background.

Maybe there is hope for this razor yet. Having thought about it, I think the blade stops will last for a while if folks are careful with them.

The topic of how long this razor should last hasn't come up that I've seen.

I'm thinking that two years would be reasonable.

A $50 Merkur, Muhle, etc... would probably last a lifetime if the chrome isn't cracked. Heck, plenty of use are using older razors that are 100 years old.

I think the Oneblade has to be viewed differently. The OneBlade will provide a no-skill required BBS every time for most people. The R&D that enabled this is what customers are paying for.

Of course, none of us will ever save money with classic shaving. If the Core turns out to be a winner, folks coming from $8 per week cartridges who consider shaving a chore could really save money if the GEM blades work out.

Assuming the Core lasts two years and works with GEM's, cost would be roughly $37.50 per year.

An $8 cartridge per week would be about $416 per year.
