I'm hoping the new razor will turn out to be a solid offering and that it will work with the GEMS.

There are folks that haven't been able to get a decent shave until they got a OneBlade and this may open the door for others that couldn't afford the more expensive option.

I've done a little research.  I'm not seeing that they will raise the price by much.  This razor is made of Tritan, which is a plastic made by Eastman Chemical.  Below is a pic of a very heavy duty, think $500 plus, blender.  The pitcher is made of this stuff. I own one of these blenders. An atom bomb could go off in that pitcher. It might blow the top off, but the Tritan body will still be there - somewhat like Harrison Ford when he got in the refrigerator right before the atom bomb went off.

So, think of the pivot and moving parts. Even with this being made from a super high quality co-polyester, at some point I would expect it to wear out. They are guaranteeing it for a year.

This will certainly give folks a chance to try a OneBlade.

Unrelated to new razor, I came across info where the OneBlade folks were talking about going from V1 to V2. As I understood it, the V1 was made from 316L stainless, a very high quality stainless which is used for artificial joints. While it is a great fit there, it is somewhat brittle and will break if you drop it, so they found a less brittle high quality stainless and moved to that.

Oh GOOD GAWD gimme a break lol. If that is the case then they just don't know how to use a safety razor that is, "One Blade," also.

EFDan what I said is true based comments I've read on this forum.

Interestingly, no one on this forum has been more critical of the OneBlade folks than I have. In hindsight, I regret being so negative on this forum because there are many people who absolutely love the OneBlade and are fine looking past the quality and poor service issues. I don't want to put down products that some people love, regardless of my beliefs.

For that reason, I'm choosing words carefully. Also, I'm sure there are folks who like the OneBlade who haven't developed great double edged safety razor skills. There is nothing wrong with that.

Personally, I enjoy the challenge of building shaving skills. There are plenty of people who give classic shaving a try, though don't want to focus on skills. The OneBlade is a perfect option for them.

Yes, many people have said how much the OneBlade has improved their shaves. Great for them. Also, many have said the OneBlade sits on their shelf unused or have sold it because they prefer the attention and zen like shaves they get when they really need to focus on a shave. Great for them too.

Use what you like and what works. Until you try it, you simply don't know. Experiment where you can, where you want, and where your budget allows. Have fun doing it all.

mantic59, I know you mentioned getting one of the first razors. You wouldn't have happened to received it yet, would you?

I got one of the very first OneBlade "Core" razors off the assembly line Friday and just shaved with it this afternoon (I wanted a couple day's growth). First impressions: lighter (duh), different balance, much more feedback vs. the Stainless Steel razor (both sound and feel). The pivot takes about the same amount of pressure on both razors (Core vs. Genesis).

There will be a short adjustment period learning this razor effectively: temptation is to press down a bit because of the lighter weight but that would be a mistake. And the difference center-of-gravity may confuse a Genesis user.

Definitely not the same luxury experience of the $400 razor but still very good IMO.

Do you feel like the shave itself was not as luxurious?
Just comparing the shave and nothing else (presentation, etc.) to the Genesis, how does it do?
