New CORE razor from OneBlade

hmn, for $50, it has me interested again.

I've always loved the look and feel of the OneBlade..their QC and customer service, not so much..

mantic59, can you please test to see if a GEM blade will fit in it when you receive one?

Just noticed this in my email, I have a ver. 1 but I thought I would pre-order and give it a go, will end up gifting it to one of my sons.

Question to those want to try Gem Blade, is it worth the effort to De-spine the Gem Blade and use it? Let's not consider price factor , just the cutting effort.

It takes about 5 minutes to despine enough blades for several months of use. I would not be using the One Blade if it was not for the GEM blades and cost has nothing to do with it. They're just that much better for me than the Feather.

you don't have to cut anything if you're just wanting to despine a GEM blade. all you do is take a pair of pliers, pinch the spine in the middle and rock it back and forth a few times until it pops off...that's all!

I don't think we can discount the price factor though. the feather fhs-10 blade is expensive compared to a GEM blade where a lot of people easily get 20+ shaves out of them.

Also, I have never enjoyed the shaves I got with these Feather blades in a Valet Auto-Strop razor. I'm tempted by the price of this new One Blade but do not want to be locked into the Feather blades.

My v1 OneBlade requires nothing more than to remove the spine of a GEM blade. I tried the nibbling tool but found it imprecise and not necessary. I've asked several people to test a GEM blade in the v2 OneBlade but I've not received a definitive answer from anyone I trust.

I've pre-ordered this CORE OneBlade and will definitely try it with a de-spined, but otherwise unmodified GEM blade. It also appears that Mantic will try it and let us know as well.

The GEM blades can handle my coarse beard much better than the Feather blades. I always end up with irritation after using Feather blades. I just don't find them robust enough.
