Blackland Razors

We can't have it both ways. So far we haven't had any complaints about the packaging fix. Just put your other hand on the insert so it doesn't lift up when you pull on the razor...

that's easier said than done when it felt like it was glued in there...

I rolled my eyes when reading this, not going to lie...

I'm glad to hear that! <3

I have not shaved with it yet. I liked my level 3 SB, it was just more mild than I prefer. I suspect the level 5 will do just fine.

Always great to see a manufacturer communicate directly with its users!

A couple of questions:
1. Given you experience with CNC machined razors, what would the estimated cost be for a similarly designed CNC machined razor, if you were to make one, regardless of cost?
2. I know you are using a novel 3D-printing process for the manufacturing; are you still tweaking that process based on feedback and on the razors you have produced so far, or do you feel that you have completely nailed it down by now, and that you can simply ramp up the production as-is if needed?

A similar machined razor would be priced in the $200 range. However, it would have fewer base plates, likely just one or two. We also wouldn't be able to scale nearly as easily with machining.

The printing process is a closed-loop system so it's self-improving by nature. We're at the point now where the improvements for these parts are increasingly small and often have to do more with yields (how many parts get scrapped during production) rather than end-product improvements that the customer knows about. In the longer run, we'll be able to eliminate layer lines entirely and also print in additional metals. Those are a ways off, though, so our priority is scaling production which we're doing now.

since I felt like I was being mocked a few posts back...

I pulled my new era out of its box after work on Monday night to inspect it further.  sure enough, there was glue or some tacky substance on the top cap.  at first I thought it was a scratch, but after rubbing my finger and fingernail over it, I didn't feel it catching.  I then grabbed a tissue and rubbed it with some firm pressure to remove whatever was on the top cap....

I sent these photos to Blackland Razors on facebook but haven't seen a reply..

Ah yea that makes sense. I pretty much never check my personal FB messenger. Try to send business things to the Blackland account or email so someone sees it.

In any event, a new cap is en route. Still not sure what happened to yours since that's the first we've seen, but we'll check it out.
