I suspect the blade clamping and blade rigidity may be due to the tight tolerances that are obtainable due to the parts being printed instead of machined.  I suspect that  the Era tolerances may exceed all other machined DE's, with the exception of the Henson (which is .005).  You have the specs and 3DEO has the tools to make the measurements.  If you are that tight on tolerances, it is a HUGE difference from other DE's and a fantastic selling point to promote the product.  You are correct...the shave with tight blade clamping will increase the comfort level exponentially, without affecting the efficiency.

It’s not really the tolerances that permit the excellent clamping. In fact, we get basically the same tolerances as CNC (which is really good!). The difference is the significant undercut/overhang we build into the base plate which allows us to support the blade almost right at the edge. Then the top cap clamps similarly close from the top. So there is very little blade revealed and we have complete control of the cutting edges. You can see a bit of this in the photo above and more photography will make this abundantly clear.

It's very interesting to see how a thread can become alive, and take off. I was a bit naughty with my led ballon comment, and didn't want to row back as the dynamic of things turned a little. So I want to apologise for my part in that.
Further do I like to say that I owned and tested a couple of Shanes razors, and I'm very much a fan of his work to date (my SS Blackbird is one of my top three untouchable razors).
So please Shane, sell me an ERA when they become available.

We like to have our fun with memes here, mostly to amuse ourselves! Thanks for taking it well. For me, I mean to disrespect or prodding, just wasting time online! Your comparison of the Era to a SE is intriguing, as the Sabre has become one of my top 3 razors, the others being injectors and AC style Hawk V3 and General V2! I couldn't tame the Vector, my loss, and I moved it into hands that really enjoy it. My DEs have dropped below the SE razors. Maybe the Era will change that?!

Oh I don't get offended one bit. You guys can and should meme all you want. After all, the pending release announcement was my own doing. In hindsight it was the wrong move, but I went with the info I had and thought I was correct. Lesson learned and no big deal. Meme away!

SEs have benefits beyond blade rigidity, but the Era does narrow the gap between them I think.

“If they’re NOT talking about ya’ they forgot about ya’!”

I like your style Shane, my sentiments on solid Marketing!

I heard recent rumour the Blackbird will be released in 2022 of Limited Edition Copper……no need to confirm this, just let it roll, lololol

Erdinger, Paulaner and Hacker are industrially brewed p**s for the masses. Almost any town here has its own brewery, that makes way better beer than the "big ones" - Ayinger being one of these. Others are Maxlrainer, Wildbräu, Schweiger Bräu or Gut Forsting, to name just a few. If you can manage to get your hands on any of these, you're in for a treat, and there are many many more...

I’m a fan of beer in general and German beers in particular and I find the subject very interesting, however, I think we should stay more or less on topic in the shaving threads. I invite you to start a thread in the Lounge to discuss the topic of German beers in more detail.
Thank you

That might go better as a post shave activity, or at least make sure you shave with your first beer. I might have pick up some of those suggestions for a shave with the Era s as well.

Nothing to be sorry for. I hope you do start a German beer thread in the lounge area. Beer is a serious topic and I know I can always use more information on the subject. I was a homebrewer back pre-kids and I can talk beer all day. Can’t drink it all day but still…
