Neat Pair of Razors

Gents,

These are Ramapo Warranted straight razors made in New Jersey by William Gilchrist sometime between 1851 and 1861. They are both just shy of 7/8, and are full wedge.

I am really excited to acquire these, because I believe that they will make fantastic shavers once honed, and also because the scales are made out of real tortoise shell! These are my first razors with authentic tortoise scales.

They should arrive next week!

After a terrible start using a horrible soap, and a failed tweak to my honing process...I rehoned the first brother of the Ramapo pair and used a good soap this evening.

It’s a beautiful shaver...I was very pleased!
