I had some minor problems lathering your wonderful shaving soap in very hard water, but that issue seems to have been mostly cured by using your soap in stick form. Still, it sounds great that you are considering some minor tweaks to your formula to accommodate those of us with hard water. Thank you!

Welcome, how about a shaving soap without tallow.

I don't have any plans right now to make a non-tallow version but I can't rule it out for the future.  I want to improve the formula that I make now until it's as good as it can be, then we'll see.

Thanks to everyone who has volunteered to be a tester. All the samples and evaluation forms have been mailed and should start arriving later this week. Looking forward to the results of your tests!

Mystic Water, how long is this testing process expected to take?

It depends on the testers, really. The boxes should start arriving at the end of the week. I haven't set a timeline, just asked people to start with the Control sample and then keep notes on their observations as they work through the four other samples. I know that everyone has a life and things to do besides test soap. I imagine that it could be completed in a week, if someone were to use a different soap sample every day, but I sent enough of each to shave for at least a week. Some of the testers are experienced with my soap, and others aren't, so it will be up to them to see how long it takes to get through all four variations.

Michelle, I am looking forward to the samples. I love experimenting with soaps!

My test kit arrived today. So will put them in identical jars, and start tonight.

I got mine last night and did my first shave with the Control Sample this morning. On to Sample A tomorrow morning.

I shaved with the Control Sample today too. I also did a test face lather with it first, then washed it off and loaded and lathered again. Tonight I will do a test lather with Sample A, then shave with it tomorrow. I think that is how I will do the rest of the samples, a test lather the night before and a share the next day.
