I’d be interested in a number of other Mystic Water aftershaves or colognes, too. Smile
(Such as Sweet Briar, Egyptian Dragon, White Tea & Ginger, and Leather & Smoke.)

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

Today I was reminded why Mystic Water is one of my favorite soaps. I got an incredible and awesomely scented lather from MW Lilac and had a great shave. Slickness, protection and post shave were all outstanding. Sometimes old favorites get lost in the shuffle and hype of all the fancy new formulas and scents that are being released on a weekly basis. As such, I haven't used MW in a while. Honestly, with a lather like today's, I could stock up on all of Michelle's scents, use MW for the rest of my life and be happy. Performance-wise, it checks all the boxes of my other top-tier soaps at half the price. So thanks Michelle for offering awesome soaps at a very affordable price. BTW, any new scents or other products in the pipeline?

Of course this is link to Home.....but.....

I really hope one day it leads to MW aftershaves  Big Grin Egyptian Dragon would be fantastic.

Been having fun trying out the new artisans lately and there are very good products out there. But then I return to MW and get a flawless shave every time. One of the very few 'permanents' in my collection.

I just received some mystic water shaving soap samples. The soap seems to dissipate very quickly on me while shaving. The lather has no density and has plenty of air pockets. Just can't get a think lather from it.

What kind of brush are you using? Matsilainen had told me awhile ago that badger brushes don't work as well with MW. I primarily use synthetics but when I tried using a badger brush on a MW soap, the resulting lather was definitely not what I normally get. If you haven't used a synthetic on MW, it's certainly worth a try b/c the MW are some of the best out there - very good slickness and post-shave feel. Plus, the scents are just awesome Smile

I used a paladin brush select badger. I concur with the scents being very nice, but that's of zero importance if I don't get density from the lather. I try again with a synthetic.

It took me about 20 shaves to completely figure out Mystic Water soap (samples, the old version). The trick for me was (again for samples only), use a smaller synthetic brush, following 'Merkur Man Method' - which is nothing but adding small amount of water at a time and starting with a relatively dry brush.

When it comes to full tubs, I can use any brush of any size. Just that starting with a relatively wet brush doesn't work.

Hope that works for you, as it has for me - Mystic Water is now my most used product by a large margin.

I would surmise you didn't get enough soap loaded on your brush and you may have used a bit too much water. Load heavier and use more paint-brush strokes to elicit the lather from the brush.
Good luck.

Here is a video showing a very good demonstration of how to load this, or any other soap:

This method worked fine. Very dense and slick lather. I can see why people rate this amongst the best. The post shave feel.

Look what I stumbled upon in one of my shaving soap totes in the basement:

This is one that is no longer made by Mystic Water Soap and it is the "old" formula.  I still ended up with an amazing, slick, protective, and great smelling lather!  What a great shave!  I think this one will get plenty of use while the temperatures are so frigid here.

This has me thinking that maybe I need Gingered Cranberry Pear shaving soap from Mystic Water?
