I had the second bathroom renovate last year and replaced the fan with a better one on a timer switch and its so quiet that I can shave with it on and not really notice it. It might be easier for you to replace the fan than to muck around with the wiring to add a second independent circuit and switch.

That's an option I hadn't thought of Marko. Thanks! I'm going to start shopping for a quieter fan.

We've suffered from the roar of the builder's grade fans that were initially installed in our house for 20 years. The newer, better quality fans out there are not only quieter but they're more efficient at drawing out moisture too. The old loud fans barely moved any air - all show and no go. And its not like a better quality fan is exactly going to break you either, we're not talking new furnace prices here.

I'm weird, I like Metal, even when shaving. Or at the very least some more upbeat rock.

Local talk radio during the week. Saturday mornings the local talk show - In the Garden. Sunday mornings the station has the hour long infomercials so I switch to classical.

Usually I listen to Classical music on the radio. My city has a great radio station with Classical music.

Or I may listen to one of my little records. Right now I am listening to Blondie.

I try to listen to something light and easy such as AC/DC Back in Black or the Stones Let it Bleed.

I shave early in the morning while wifey is still sleeping, so I usually can't enjoy music during my shave. On the occasion that I can listen to music I'll pick one of my rock channels on Pandora; Alice in Chains, Weezer, Gin Blossoms.

I like Classical as well as Jazz (Dixieland and New Orleans). But sometimes silence is music to my ears.

I have never had Marko's fan problem. I have no fan. I always open the window and in season hear the songs of the birds. I can even get the cardinals to respond to my ch ch ch.
