I enjoy listening to music from the 1920s through the late 1940s from time to time.

Today I had one of those memories that makes me cringe: I remembered an Easter in 1971 when I was working as an assistant to the youth minister of a church, and somehow I - who cannot sing to save my life, even in the shower - got roped into singing in a church service, from the balcony, all by myself except for a guitar accompanying me, the hymn 'He is Risen.' I don't know how, but I got through to the end of it, completely mortified.

Tonight SWMBO and I got to go to a live concert at the local university's auditorium, for the first time in 19 months. 

Faculty and Guest Recital: “Quartet for the End of Time.”
David Rogosin, piano, James Kalyn, clarinet, and Nadia Francavilla, violin are joined by cellist Paul Pulford to perform one of the landmark compositions of the 20th-century, Olivier Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time. The concert opens with Beethoven’s Piano Trio in C minor, Op. 1, No. 3.

They cut the seating to 50%, and you had to show proof of vaccinations to get in. The only person without a mask on was the clarinet player while he was on stage.

I just noticed that it was a different cellist than the one named in the calendar of events. Didn't matter to us.
