Ran over by my parents before getting the day started to say hello to them and salute my Pops (he’s VERY formal on Military Days). As I was pulling up the driveway I lowered my music because I thought I heard some pretty loud music. Lol, Mom greeted me at the door, I looked like a deer in head lights because the music was coming from our house (Parents house, where I grew up). She said he’s upstairs and he’s got his M65 Field Jacket on from Nam and listening to music.  I asked what he was doing, she laughed and said go up there.  Go up there means he’s in his cool Viet Nam era ManCave study and anything goes! I got up there, greeted and saluted him, he told me to back up 2 paces from his desk and stand at ease, lol.  He was cleaning his automag and at 11am having a scotch.  Told me to pour myself one lol, I passed.  

So yeah, that happened.  And they wonder why I’m so OCD...

He did have some great music on! I got a small play list going when I got back home and prepped for My Memorial Day shave!

Stranglehold is magic! I saw Nugent at Poplar Creek in 1994, my Pops took me along with his friends and I remember how awesome all his friends treated me, saying I was as chill as the adults! I think Lynard Skinnard opened for Nugent and I remember hearing Stranglehold live, still gives me chills.  You know Nugent went off on staggered riffs, was so amazing! 

I knew it was something special just like “Smoke On the Water.”

My thoughts go back to seeing Nugent on 3 occasions in 3 cities over the course of many years. Not a fan but friends wanted me to tag along. In each case he ran on the stage screaming:

“Hello XXX city! There’s no pussy like XXX city pussy! Show me those XXX city pussies!”

I knew today was going to be one of those consistent fun days when it started! Fantastic performing and great smelling soap, iconic razor, beautiful weather and the moment I hit shuffle to start my day, kicks my shave off with two completely different but brilliant sounds!

John, although I have to look up 97% of this music, it’s pretty amazing stuff! I know some of the names and contributions because of college music classes but for the trained ear I know this music is heaven. 

I went with this one... at 2:35 Alexandra cranked up the volume and this piece is crazy powerful! It just makes you FEEL happy! We were laughing so hard we couldn’t explain to each other why!

Early Police were just such badasses with rage against societal anomy and materialism. Such a great song! Guess I’m not alone in being alone, what a simple verse expressing a billion alienated people.
