Hey Marko - Ping me at bill@murphyandmcneil.com? I have a couple ideas, but we’ll get you taken care of either way!

This sort of customer service earns a gold star in my book. Gold star recipients are notable and, in my mind, unforgettable. Well done, M&M!

I have to agree with you CCity , Bill at Murphy and McNeil reached out to me and went above and beyond to ensure that I was a very satisfied customer.  I think I'd give him 2 or 3 gold stars  Happy2

I'm looking forward to trying out Murphy and McNeil's new soap base too.

I got a tub of Murphy & McNeil Bad Mor in their new formula and I shaved with it this morning. (Thanks Bill) It smells exactly the same as the old formula and the soap puck is hard like regular shaving soap and not super soft like the original formula.  I was able to load the brush from the soap.  It made a beautiful, rich and slick lather and was a pleasure to use.  Even though the scent was the same as the old formula Bad Mor that I have, its possible that there is something extra in the mix because the lather did warm up my face a little - it didn't light me up like the fourth of July (an experience that has happened only twice and which I do not wish to repeat) but there was more heat than normal.  There was no redness or any of that stuff it was more like the aftershave burn that fades quickly.  Its still a great soap.  I posted a photo of the ingredients label of the two formulas below. New on the left, old on the right.  As you can see the new formula has a few differences.  What caught my eye was the addition of some duck tallow which would account for the richness I think.  In any case, this is an excellent soap

Lanolin maybe?  My skin doesn't care for lanolin.

No, I don't think so.  I think there may be a different fragrance ingredient than the early iteration of Bad Mor - it was a very mild reaction and I'll try it again in a few days to see if its still there.  I've had reactions in the past to cinnamon oil I think - that was fourth of July on the scale.  Ive generally been very fortunate and had almost no reactions of note.

Just to be clear, this new Murphy & McNeil soap base is excellent.   I only mentioned the warming sensation because it was different than the previous iteration of the same soap. It’s actually kind of pleasant along the same line as the cooling affect in a mentholated soap is pleasant. The duck tallow is a real benefit as well. It just makes a soap richer and slicker.  I’ll be getting more of these.

Hey Marko!

The fragrance is the same, albeit maybe a bit adjusted up slightly. We’re working on our scents being too light for quite a few folks. It’s always a risk with fragrance, the higher the concentration the higher chance some skin types may not agree.

It’s possible a slightly higher concentration of the fragrance material with your skin... but also have you used this base before? Personally I find the post-shave to be almost be warming in comparison to our former tallow offering. I say this because as you said it’s not unpleasant (at least to me) but very noticeable particularly if you shave with different soaps between shaves.

Thanks for talking about our stuff all. It’s appreciated. Smile

I picked up a tub of Magh Tured from Top of the Chain recently and used it this week.  It's beautiful.  I got a bottle of the post shave splash as well to try it out.  I've found that the true intended scent of a product often seems to come through more in the splash than the soap.  In this case both the soap and the splash smelled great - Magh Tured is an homage to Tom Ford Oud Wood so if you like that one then this ones for you.  I happen to like TF Oud Wood, (actually I'm not sure I've met a Tom Ford I didn't like  Smile ) so I'm really happy with this one.  The scent on the soap is slightly lighter than the splash but still very present.  I'd call it a high medium strength scent.  The splash is very nice with a nice face feel and good scent strength that fades slightly but still gives you a mild level of that lovely scent for a decent period of time.  The soap is in Murphy & McNeil's latest (I think) formula which is decently hard, lathers beautifully and is nice and slick with duck fat in the formula.  Love it  Happy2
