Components of the fragrance mix cause that as it cures. Sort of like how vanilla will cure to a brown.

Hope you like it!

I'll accept that, I'd wondered if maybe you didn't make it "rubber ducky yellow" in honour of the duck tallow. Big Grin

I shaved with the Eisteacht today and it was excellent! Its a little bit softer soap in the tub than most but wow is it good. Its got the stringy effect for those who like that and it takes in a whole lot of water to gradually work up to a thick, rich, luscious Greek yogurty lather with a ton of slick, cushiony goodness. Its a top tier performer in my book. The scent is nice, sort of reminds me of Dr. Jon's Savannah Sunrise or Tim's Greek Peach - sort of like that for me but thats just my own nose and I've learned from experience that other's noses may smell things differently. YMMV. I'd give the scent strength a 4/10, a bit mild but still very nice.

Eisteacht is a must have and if the Eisteacht soap base is released in various limited edition scents down the road, each of those will likely be must haves too. Unless the scent is a strong leather one, I just can't take heavy leather scents. Smile

I'll be trying Bad Mor shortly and I'm hoping the beef tallow is as good as the duck

Top of the Chain is the only place that has any of the duck base for that fragrance. At our site that base is now being used for one of our newer scents “Claddagh.” I like both bases but feedback on the duck has slightly edged out our main base. (Tallow = 94 Ruds shave score vs Duck/Tallow = 95)

Glad you liked it! Also - it may be too early to say for sure but having some good talks with Maggards. There’s hope for our international friends.

Thats interesting, so the key with future Eisteacht soaps is pay attention to the label when purchasing because they won't always be the same and they may have a different "primary" name.

If things don't workout with Maggard's , you should be aware that Carmine at Top of The Chain ships internationally. Personally, I'd love it if you sold all of your products through Top of The Chain but thats just me being selfish since Carmine will do the free shipping to Canada and the US if you buy $60 of product. Its a great deal. I have accepted no incentives of any kind to say that either.

We already have an assortment with Carmine and TotC! There are a couple fragrances he doesn’t have just yet but in the future I’m going to try to make sure our partners have new products ‘day and date’ with us.

I know you do, I just want more Big Grin Carmine has really done a great job bringing in products from a wide selection of really great artisans. As a Canadian I really appreciate that because seriously, I'd rather spend my money on shaving stuff than on postage fees.

Thanks,

I used Bad Mor yesterday and in my opinion the beef tallow base is just as excellent as the duck tallow. Its a soft soap, it produces a a rich, thick shiny lather with the gradual addition of water and it can take lots of water. I'd give it full marks except for the scent - to my nose this one is a very mild, standard bay rum. That said, these Murphy and McNeil soaps may be newcomers but they came with their best game. Happy2

My thoughts exactly. I was *snuck a sample with an order and then was like I set the order to the side. While these days, artisans are really top notch, the M&M soap sample stole the show with performance And scent that was completely original. So now, along my PAA and Oleo, M&M steps into the rotation.....Just crowding up the “den”. Lol

So I ordered, received and shaved with a handful of samples from M&McN, and I feel like I can now share my experience.

1) In terms of performance, all 4 soaps I tried were top notch. Even with my most aggressive razor, these protected well and provided ample glide. If I had to compare these soaps in a way this is useful, I would say that the samples are very very soft soaps (almost cream consistency) that make low-structure lather. That puts them performance-wise in the same bucket as B&M Reserve and Declaration Grooming Bison Tallow both in the way the soap is picked up by the brush, how much water it needs and the consistency of the final lather. Given that this lathers easily, I think the comparison to DG is better than B&M (B&M is harder to lather correctly IMO). Based on this, I can see these soaps be part of my top 3-4 soaps for sure.

2) The scents were all very well-composed. Crann Bethad is instantly recognizable as a Creed Green Irish Tweed clone (or Davidoff Cool Water). While the scent is very well done, I am not a fan of the Aquatics, so for me, this was a pass. Green Man smelled EXACTLY like B&M Reserve Fern. Didn't love that one either because it has the same slightly artificial smell to it that I get in B&M Fern. AGain...well done, but not my cup of tea.

The two scents that I thought were head and shoulders above the other two were Mandate from Heaven and Ourobouros. Mandate from Heaven also reminds me of a cologne, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Either way, it is super pleasant and unlike anything else in my den. Ourobouros is this really deep, layered scent that bursts with woody patchouli and amber notes. Almost like entering an old wooden shrine/temple in Thailand or Indonesia. Super unique scent, as well, and I just adore this for colder weather.

So right this moment, if I buy full pucks, it will be Ourobouros and MoH. Overall, these soaps are all the way up there with the very best IMO.
