Just had my 1st shave with Claddagh this evening. What a unique complex scent, lather was great with plenty of slickness & protection. I personally wouldnt put it as high as GD, WK, or anything like that, but they do have a great soap base IMO. Plus they sell samples and have free shipping, if your curious theres no reason not to try some for yourself and see how it goes.

It just raised my suspicions when all of a sudden I'm seeing a rash of reviews for this new soap company after they put a blast out on social media offering a 20% discount code in exchange for reviews of their products. And that's not the only thing I find shady abou
t this company...

When you combine everything, it just sets off the ol' BS meter that's all.

I suppose I can understand, but do please remember that you're calling people's credibility into question.

As far as the rash of reviews, I think you're forgetting that Ruds featured them in a video review and gave them a score only a couple points removed from the best he's given. A rating like that from someone with as many viewers as him is certainly going to increase attention and people buying it to try. Unless you're also calling his credibility into question?

Before that video, I had never heard of them. So I truly didnt know about the 20% of thing until after, and that discount can be gotten with a good review, a bad review, or just an SOTD post.

I do see how a certain conclusion could be drawn. But, it's just as easy to come to the conclusion that quality+exposure=sales and sales+quality=more exposure. And that conclusion doesnt involve playing fast and loose with other people's credibility and/or moral compass

Lol, Ruds also rates Catie's Bubbles and Talbot higher than like Reserve or Icarus, which I very much disagree with. I like Ruds, but I don't agree with all of his scores. I'm not saying he's not credible.

I understand (agree with him on Talbot but not CB) I was mainly making the point that there doesnt have to be kickbacks for a good review. The more and more people commenting here and TSN really show that it's just a killer set of soap bases.

I didn’t even order the stuff. The seller gave me the sample. So, no hidden agenda here. I actually got the Oleo soap along with the Uncle Jon’s. I just found the soap surprisingly uplifting. But yeah, the packaging is Cheapo. Just be sure to cut a corner.

I bought a tub of MandM (Bad Mor/Bay Rum) for full price on Top of The Chain - I haven't actually used it yet but I'm a little underwhelmed by the very, very mild scent off the puck. Reading the scent profile I was hoping for more. Do I get 20% off now?

I've also ordered a tub of their Eisteacht Naid soap - not for the scent profile which lists freesia and apricot, but for the duck fat. I'm curious. Not sure about how it will smell. We'll see. Also paid full price.

I did buy some samples from them based on a Ruds review. So far I’ve only used Trinity. I really like the soap and my order was promptly filled. The only minor negative was in the sample packaging. I’ve never encountered a sealed foil pouch like that before. Once it’s opened there is no zip lock to reseal it. I guess you just fold it over , clip it and put it a zip lock sandwich baggie. IMHO a miniature screw top jar or snap lid would be better. Seems to me what everyone else uses for samples.

Thank you. This is good feedback and it was a tough choice on the sample container.

The main reason we do this is because the pouches can ship very inexpensively via U.S. mail, so even if someone orders just one $2.99 pouch we can still ship it free and not loose $1-2 on a first class package service. I realize they’re probably not for everyone but it’s really important to us to be able to do free U.S. shipping with no mins. Smile

Understand that every wet shaving forum at one time or another has been "gang raped" by shills for various new vendors and as a result many are "gun shy" and with good reason. Call it vendor "profiling" if you will, but as Ronald Reagan once famously stated: "Trust, but confirm."

Secretary Ramsey put his foot into it yesterday . . . in the course of his remarks he said that California “needs water and better society.”  “So does h-ll,” yelled someone in the crowd.

I really did appreciate the free shipping with no minimum purchase although I spent way more than $2.99.
However as I stated I had never encountered a sample pouch, only the screw top mini jar. For me it’s much neater and more user friendly. Moreover you can smell the sample without having to use it right after you tear open the pouch.
Just my 2 cents.
