Well said Georg which is why I will always have Simpsons in my den. I am a fan of the two band myself.

I'll never forget my father buying me my first Nimmer Mill Simpson at Brooks Brothers right there on 44th and Madison back in the day when they also supplied Brooks. He would get calls from his friend who worked there when a new box came in. We would rush over.

Here are a couple of quick shots of my MS 30mm fan sandwiched between a CH2 and CH3 both in Manchurian. As of right now I think I prefer the MS knot, just as dense and softer tips but plenty of backbone.

So far I have acquired two MS brushes and I must admit that they both are very impressive. I will have to use it for a few more shaves before I could say definitively about their place in my den, but as of now they are strong in competing with my Simpsons' Manchurian, M&F finest, Brad Sears Manchurian, and SV two bands. The only brush that still holds the first place is my 28mm Paladin Falstaff with Lee's knot that you could see in my avatar icon.

I wouldn't try a 24mm again. Once burned . . . Trouble with the 30mm is that it's a 30mm, much too large for my needs. If they could produce a 26mm with soft tips then maybe I'd reconsider.

These knots are excellent value for the price and I haven't yet tried a brush that equals this value, for a badger brush that is. However, this is, of course, very subjective.
Having said this, I still find many of the M&F, Shavemac, Simpsons (Manchurian/Super/2-Band) brushes that I have tried over the years to have had better quality hair used in the knots than these brushes use even though I have found and still find them to be, relatively, over-priced.

OK, I couldn't resist any longer!  I just ordered the MS 30mm Finest Fan.  You guys cost me more money! Big Grin

Honestly, I've been eyeing these since they were "LS" and Optometrist suggested checking them out months ago. So, I guess I showed restraint. Right? That's good. Right? Shy

I bought a 30mm 'LS' finest in November 2016 from eBay. I went back to eBay to look at the Maseto brushes, and the ad for the 30mm finest was exactly the same, with the same options (wooden box, handle color) as when I bought it.

The graphic even implied that the handle was simply rebranded.

The brush I got was excellent for the price.

I'm wondering if anyone knows if the 'Maseto' are simply rebranded LS brushes or are they different quality knots?

They're the same. Available in fan now too.

I think celestino said that the new ones had a bit of a smaller knot?

I ordered one and also the barber handle one with a 24mm finest knot. Neither has arrived yet though.
