The yellow is gorgeous. I gotta ask tho, you use a lot of DE? I dont think I've ever seen one of your own skraits in your SOTD. Admittedly, I dont see them all.

Also, your thoughts on the differences between the hair would be most appreciated.

Clearly you don't follow all my shaves. :-)  I posted a SR shave just last week in the SOTD and SR thread. I alternate between a DE and an SR. I'll mostly use my SR when I have a few days of growth and my DE in between. After using a SR for 38 years I like to mix it up. If you're referring to not using any of my own SR's, well, that's mainly because I feel like I would be pushing my own wares. It just feels weird. I prefer to let my work speak for itself through others without having to advertise my own.
Both brushes are wonderful. The 1 doesn't gel for me but has a nice density with wonderful soft tips. It took about a handful of lathers to break in. The 2 has much more backbone and is even more dense. That one does gel and does really great with soaps. I face lather and both work equally well for that purpose. The loft on the 1 is higher than the 2. They each have their characteristics. When I want a more luxurious feeling I'lll grab the 1 and when I want a nice work-out and a refreshing shave I'll use the 2.
