Soap: maybe Captain Fawcett's now that I'm thinking about it... bc of its great outdoorsy forest scent. Not the greatest performing soap base but very slick.

Blade: Gillette Platinum always

Razor: Razorock Lupo for 95% of shaves since I got this razor. Proves you don't need a $200-$600 razor to get extremely smooth, extremely close, and extremely easy.

Brush: Muhle synthetic fibres: EJ, Simpson, Plisson (new)

Aftershave: Razorock (different scents)

Most likely this, but I should probably start tracking my shaves in 2020 to see what I use the most:

Razor: Gillette Tech Hybrid

Blade: Polsilver

Soap: La Toja Stick

Brush: Omega 011842

I tend to favor things I make, as I make them just the way I like them to be.

Several years ago I thought I would assemble a razor collection.  I can't tell you how many times I looked a an Above The Tie razor.  I did not purchase one because it looked too utilitarian and more like a tool.  I preferred the “thing of beauty” look.  I talked myself into purchasing a 5 piece closed comb Kronos set.  After using for a few days I removed the blades from my other razors and have only used the Kronos ever since.  That is my 365 day razor.

+1  Happy2  I recently picked up one of the black Rockwell 6s and it seems to be an even smoother shaver than my original - weird, I'll have to do a side by side.

Just to clarify... That black coating on the new 6s isn't glossy, right? Speaking to someone... Who was that?... I was under the impression that it was a still blasted and the coating was 'dull' like the original S model.

I'd be very interested in seeing how that shakes out for glide in a side by side. Of course, I've always been of the impression that the coating is only half of the difference that's usually discussed between the C and S models. Weight is the other half that seems to impact the difference in feel (smoothness some say).

SOAP  No Clear leader emerged.  My five most used are neck-and-neck with Lisa's leading by a nose.  They are shown in alphabetical order.
 • Eufros Zanzibar
 • GDept Barbershop
 • GDept Coattails Redux LE
 • Lisa's Somali Rose
 • PannaCrema Nuavia Blu (OLD jar)
BRUSH These five, with similar stats, led the pack by a clear margin, but not huge one. The Elite 24 edged into first place.
 • BSSW 3 Band Super Hybrid, Coral & Amber L7 (28mm)
 • Elite Manchurian White Fan, Amboyna Burl Handle (24mm)
 • Elite Manchurian White Fan, Amboyna Burl Handle (26mm)
 • Elite Manchurian White Fan, Arizona Jade Handle (26mm)Stirling Finest 24mm Fan
 • Stirling Finest 24mm Fan
RAZOR My top three razors smoked the pack, with the GC84 far enough ahead to coast home easily into first place.
 • RzRk Game Changer .84-P
 • Timeless SS 068 Smooth/SB
 • Gillette NEW Long Comb
BLADE It was Wizamet by a mile for me, with Med Preps and GEM PTFEs comfortably holding down 2nd and 3rd places respectively.
 • Wizamet Iridium Super
 • Personna Med Prep
 • GEM SS PTFE
It took me a month to get around to this, but I found it very instructive and useful.  OTOH it is perhaps a sign of growth that these statistics are inherently somewhat out-of-date.  In my case for example, the Timeless is likely to move down, and other razors likely to move up (Gillete New LC, Muhle R41/2013, Enoch).  As the Enoch or some other AC razor moves up, a standout AC blade may emerge too.

Anyway, thanks to HoosierShave for starting the thread.  It was definitely a worthwhile exercise for me.  Humbling too, as my memory seems to be getting more like Mark Twain's, whose memory improved so well with age that he could remember things that never even happened.

You are correct - not glossy but sort of matte black.  Once its wet and soapy it glides as well as any razor.  I like it.
