Most Efficient razor with Least Blade Feel

As has been noted, the 1.55 is phenomenal razor with remarkable smoothness... although
I certainly do not put it in the category of 'least blade feel'. You do feel the blade, perhaps
a couple notches less than the highest gapped WR1 head... the 0.94mm.

One razor that is really beginning to impress me in terms of delivering superb efficiency
with a conspicuous absence of blade feel is the Taiga Adjustable at the 3 or 3.5 setting.

@"george1906," Could I ask about the angle?

My understanding is there are cap riders/shallow angle shavers and guard riders/steep angle shavers. I tend to have the handle pretty close to my skin (riding the guard/shaving steep). Which are you with the 1.55?

According to my limited understand of the WR2 razors, they're smooth in all gaps. Certainly my 1.15 is very very smooth. Remarkably smooth. My guess is all the WR2 razors in all gaps feel smooth to many people perhaps everybody.

What I'm interested in learning more about is the blade feel of the 1.55 and whether it qualifies in your experience with it for a "least blade feel" membership when it's used at a steep/guard riding angle?

Could you speak to the blade feel of the 1.55 as compared with the various other WR2 razors you've used?

I know you have used several, particularly including the 1.35. I have only the 1.15.

You use a steep/guard riding angle, right?

Your comments about the Taiga are also appreciated, here and on B&B, but I'm focused on the WR2 at the moment as my name is coming up in a month.

I am in between a cap rider and a steep angle shaver with my Wolfman’s. I would say that I have a bit of blade feel with the angle I use but at that gap you would think there would be major blade feel and I just don’t get it with the 1.55. My 1.65 has more blade feel and is still smooth but the shave on the 1.55 is the most comfortable to me. Both of those gaps are extremely efficient but I do feel the blade quite a bit more on the 1.65.

The 1.55 has the most blade feel among the WR2 gaps Ive tried. I have not tried 1.65 and have no urge to.

While 1.55 is a great razor I would not put it in the category of max performance with least blade feel.
Plus the 1.55 Ive experienced is a Ti model and the material seems to mute blade feel a little.
In fact I remember my 1.45 SS had more blade feel than the Ti 1.55

The WR2 is best experienced by riding the safety bar not the cap...if you look closely there is a sloping section in the
bar and that needs to rest against your face.

If you ride the cap, you might suppress the blade feel to some extent but you're also suppressing efficiency.

If you are on a 1.15, I can confidently recommend a 1.35...the efficiency is demonstrably higher and it is a pretty
gentle razor for me. It all depends on the state and condition of your beard growth

PS. Just for reference: there was a video of Joe Rogan on Instagram yesterday, where he is talking about his
Covid experience....if you observe his beard growth, to me that is the kind of beard that would be right for a 1.35 mm
WR2 razor.

Agreed! After going through all of my razors as I’ve been dramatically reducing my den lately and only keeping the ones I use I’ve come to the same conclusion. The only razor that is just a bit smoother but less efficient was the Titanium RS 10. The 2020 is in the neighborhood of  the WR2 1.35 Ti efficiency wise but definitely smoother. One thing about Andrew he knew how to put out a razor that offered both properties of both smoothness and efficiency/effectiveness and to me started the trend of a razor offering both characteristics when he came out with the 17 - 4. The 2020 just took it to another level. Of course this is just one mans opinion.

The Paradigm Diamondback 2020 sounds great but perhaps nearly unobtanium. 

As far as I know none of the Paradigm razors are readily available. They're currently sold out. I do not see them on the BST listings all that often either. Kinda a shame.

One gentleman mentioned a time or two on this thread that the WR2 1.55 is both efficient and in the least blade feel category. I brought that up in a which Wolfman to buy next conversation on B&B; it was suggested perhaps the gentleman uses the 1.55 as a cap rider, meaning, I believe, that the 1.55 has a lot of blade feel used at a steep angle.

I've not used the 1.55 at all so I know nothing about it from my own experience. 

My experience with Wolfman razors is limited to my WR2 1.15. The 1.15 is very very smooth, surprisingly efficient, and without a ton of blade feel. I experience a bit of blade feel with the 1.15 WTG, but not much blade feel WTG. There is significantly more blade feel ATG but it's not a deal breaker. 

I'd like more efficiency than the 1.15 offers and even less blade feel. 

Is anyone using the Wolfman WR2 1.55 at a steep angle (rather than cap riding) and experiencing "least blade feel" with it? Least compared to what?

Like many other guys, I'm searching for the perfectly efficient, incredibly smooth razor, with the least blade feel. 

I'd be interested in any comments about the WR2 blade feel, particularly in the 1.55. If the 1.55 has "least blade feel" membership it would certainly be a candidate to become my next Wolfman. (I should be at the top of the list in a month or so.)

Long time no talk to!

If you feel that the 1.15 you have has a little to much blade feel on the ATG then any gap higher in a SS Wolfman razor will give you more and you mentioned your looking for less. So I know your turn is coming up on getting a new Wolfman razor. Been there done that more than a few time but maybe you should be looking elsewhere for your perfect razor. I personally sold every WR1 and WR2 I had and I’m down to only my WR2 1.45/1.55 DC Titanium. Love the looks as it’s high polished but I have a few razors that give me what I’m looking for in a razor nowadays and that’s a great balance of Efficiency/Effectiveness, smoothness and maneuverability. Yes the Paradigm 2020 and the RS 10 are difficult to find but there are others out there for example the Ti Timeless and one of my favorites the Blackland Ti. An to be able to adjust your blade gap on different passes you could consider the Taiga Ti and my Favorite the Rocnel Sailor which both offer a wide range of efficiency settings.

I'm certainly getting a wide range of views on the WR2 gaps and such.

On the WTG pass the 1.15 is lovely. My guess is with more efficiency the ATG pass will have less work to do. Of course, I'm just guessing, and you're experienced.

The Sailor is a definite consideration for me. I have a theoretical objection to adjustables, but the Gillette Executive adjustable and the Pearl Flexi have conspired to dampen my objection both being fine shavers. I am absolutely considering the Sailor. A gentleman on B&B said he'd send me his to try out, and I'm awaiting that opportunity before spending the coin. I much appreciate your opinion of razors and, well, pretty much anything else you have to say, my friend.

I missed this line for some reason.
And it has been correctly posted out that the answer to this will not be in the Wolfman
lineup. The 1.15 has neutral blade exposure from what I have read so it's impossible
to go up to a 1.35 or 1.55 and get what you are after.

BTW this is the level of beard growth that justifies the use of a 1.35 or 1.55 IMO

I respectfully disagree with Tester28 on this one ... reason being that I have his old WR2 1.45 and it is a nice, smooth daily shaver with minimal blade feel when going ATG. I have been obsessing over shavette and straight shaves recently, so it has been a while, but I probably use about a 45-degree angle.

EDIT: To be clearer, I couldn't get that degree of stubble if I didn't shave for a year. Typical Asian face with facial hair that maybe equates to a Greek kid going through puberty.

That's exactly why I put IMO at the end of these kinds of remarks.
These are just my thoughts, very likely that others have different experiences.
FWIW, if I don't shave for about 4-5 days I start to look like old Joe and then need to whip out
the 1.55.
On days 2-3 I reach for the 1.35
Im too lazy to do a daily shave since work from home became a thing.
But if there's one razor that could persuade me to shave daily its the Taiga.
And possibly the new Rocnel MC Sailor, we shall see.
