More Personna Confusion

In your view would you expect these distinctly labeled blades to be the same blades?  Both packages say "Platinum Chrome" near the top [see arrow].  Both packs say "Stainless Steel Blades" [arrow at bottom].  But the blade ejectors recite different blade types [see arrows on blade ejectors]. On the left are Platinum Chromes and on the right are Stainless Steels.

I purchased 100 packs of what I thought were the blades on the left, only to realize months [or a year] later that over half of the order was comprised of blades on the right.  The term "Platinum Chrome" appears on various Personna offerings, and are a very good blade although not top tier IMHO.  The stainless steel blades on the right are, again IMHO, a notch or two below.

I find it difficult to trust Personna and will not purchase any of their blades except perhaps Lab Blues which have been consistent.  But even the revered Med Preps I have received in a 250 lot box, were irregulars or something else altogether, although the blade was stamped FOR HOSPITAL USE, as expected.

Anyway, there are still lots of top tier blades to choose from and I'm not freaked out, but I thought you might like to know.

Well, this is a bummer to read. The Personna (Med) Prep is one of my absolute favorites… If I may ask, where do you get your lab blues? Some people have been reporting recent inconsistencies with those blades, as well.

It has been awhile, but I got them from someone on Amazon. You might also try shaving.ie, a vendor with good blade prices.

Thanks! I’ll keep those in mind. Buying directly from Amazon is safe in the sense that returns are relatively easy, should something be wrong with a product. I guess you could also say the same of any reputable wet shaving goods vendor.

Personna makes ONE blade for DE shaving in the USA. The Med Prep is the same blade as the Lab Blue except that the former gets a sanitized bath for medical reasons. Don't be confused by marketing terms such as "Stainless" & "Platinum Chrome". They do not sell industrial grade blades to barbers or beauty salons. As regards their Israel production read this:

A very interesting article. MEM is one of my favorite creams. I enjoy both the green and white box versions. The green box is difficult to find in the U.S. and the white box all but impossible.

You answered your own question there. The packaging is what's confusing. If there are only 2 kinds of blades, why would they label them all so differently?

I didn't ask a question. The difference between "Made in USA" and "Made in Israel," regardless of packaging, is obvious. Different packaging for different markets.

Saying you don't understand is kinda the same as questioning something without actually asking a question. Just because the box says "Made here" or "Made there" does not designate what type of blade it is to the uninformed user. That's where the confusion lies. Why would they label the "same" blades as Platinum Chrome and Stainless Steel? What is the point? These came from the same market (USA).
