Any fans of Moon Soap out there?

I just had the pleasure of using Moon "Union" yesterday and was honestly amazed by the lather/performance. Scent was a very nice take on Barbershop.

Curious what others think of this soap base and scents? Anyone tried the splash yet? Looks like some nice ingredients in there.

I have had my eye on trying their Amaretto for some time. Razorock P160 didn't do well for me, but Cella was fine... So I have a 50/50 chance of wasting my money. Lol. It won't be for a while anyway.

I have heard a lot if good things about them, though. I believe GearNoir and Fluffy both have posted about it (positive reviews)? Haven't seen any reviews for their AS, though. Curious...

Think I'm gonna have to take one for the DFS team and order up the balm today... probably try "Tobacco Flower" as that sound the most interesting to me!

I think andrewjs18 has tried Moon Soaps aftershave, I'm not sure about the soap but I seem to recall that he told me he likes the aftershave  - Andrew?

I have tried Sorrento and Amaretto speciale. Sorrento had a slight tallow scent for me. But Amaretto speciale is one of my favorite scents in the hobby. It is like Cela on steroids. Base is decent.

The splash is non-alcoholic. Base decent also.

Hope this helps.

I have 3 of their balms - union, Havana and tobacco flower. I'm a fan of the scents of Havana & tobacco flower but not so much with union. the balm itself is great.

I haven't tried their soaps yet though.

I’ve only got Amaretto but I largely agree with this assessment. I think the base far surpasses Cella though...it’s definitely high artisan quality to me. The scent is to die for if you’re an almond/marzipan lover.

MarkB has quite a few of their soaps as well.

I have not tried their AS yet though.

Yes and No Smile

I only have one soap and it's the Tobacco Flower.  The scent is more of an herbal/floral type rather than pipe-tobacco.  For me, the scent is top-notch  Once lathered, it produces a great slick/shiny/yogurty-like lather which provides more than enough cushion for the shave

My only complaint is the loading and initial face-lathering process.  I've only used it a few times and it's highly likely that I'm doing something wrong.  But it is a soft soap and goes on like a thick balm-like substance.  So far, I've face-painted for about thirty seconds to smear it all over my beard.  Then I dip the knot in water and go back to face-painting which is like a 180 to the lather.  After a few minutes of dipping/face-painting, it results in a  great lather.

Despite that minor complaint, this tub of Moon Soaps isn't going anywhere anytime soon...the lather really is that good

I think of their tobacco flower as a very 'green' type of tobacco scent...I like it as well. sometimes the pipe tobacco scents can be so incredibly cloyingly sweet that it's a massive turnoff.

Your lathering experience is quite consistent with mine. I think it might have something to do with how the local tallow is rendered and added. The soap always loads thick and gummy but with a decent amount of water (it can take quite a lot too) it comes out highly satisfactory.
