39 to be exact at this moment are available at Maggards. Apparently this is where all further Mongoose orders will be handled, including the upcoming AlumiGoose.

Thanks much Brian. Although I am Goose-less, I think I will hang tight and pick up the Alumi-goose 2 but great to know who they picked as a channel partner.

Appreciate the heads up.

Me too, Brian. I've been resisting the Goose because I didn't want to inventory another species of blade. Mind you, this is while the backlog of DE blades to be evaluated continues to grow! Plus, stainless steel just does it for me, having repped a couple of s/s fabricators that made sanitary stuff for the meat packing business, I have an affection for s/s that won't quit! Granted, that was macro scale, but it's still s/s! The Feather AS-D2 is worming its way into my heart even though it's satin finish. The Goose would be the same (the gleam of polished s/s is an aphrodisiac for me).

Reviews seem to indicate that the Goose is right up there with the OneBlade in shaving prowess and comfort. OneBlade appeals as a product but I'm not a fan of past practices of its founder, so that kinda queers it for me. And, the blade choices for it are small compared to DE. Oh nuts! Here I sit constructing an argument for picking one of Maggard's, now 35 in stock. See, I've already been there and looked Blush No, no, must resist. I'm sick and need to rest!

Actually, Kevin, I went back and reread Brian's Mongoose Journal and Clint's postings and decided to stay the course. My current stash of vintage Gillettes and the new AS-D2 allow me to make only minor adjustments in angle to easily use them all to get the shaves that make me happy. This also keeps me in the DE world that I had decided was the best for me.

So, status quo for the moment. But, there's the Rockwell headed for the marketplace and that's DE! Oh no, here I go again. Tongue

You've been around the community long enough to understand that No is unacceptable, more is the only path Smile

I got shipping confirmation on the Rockwell and it should be here tomorrow according to tracking- said it before but worth saying again: it's a great time in the wet shaving world with all these exciting offerings hitting the marketplace!

This is tempting, but the AlumiGoose 2 is just around the corner, and it looks to use an even more-improved head design? My only experience with SE shaves so far is my Schick E-2 injector, but I (and my coarse beard) like it. Can anyone -- maybe SharpSpine -- advise me on where to go next for a great SE experience, and whether to try this stainless Mongoose or wait for the AlumiGoose 2?

From my prospective my AlumiGoose 1 is a little more efficient than my B2 Satin Mongoose. You could cut down a Feather Pro Artist Club blade and give it a try in your E2.

You have in my opinion the best vintage injector & as clint64 said, you can cut down a Feather AC blade to take the injector shave to the next level.

As far as the modern SE razors go I would definitely consider either Mongoose. If I was brand new to Mongoose I would go with the more cost effective AlumiGoose. Even with using both the stainless steel & aluminum versions I would take the aluminum currently. I'm liking the lighter razors lately and the lightweight aluminum is flat out fun to whip around my face.

Since the vintage SEs, injectors included, are fairly lightweight then that's another reason to go with aluminum. Many people love the heft of a stainless razor and they definitely carry with them an heir of sophistication and class.

I personally am still preferring my OneBlade with GEM SS PTFE blades over everything but I understand that $300 is a pretty big leap of faith. At least it comes with a 30-day guarantee to try it out.
