I thought I should generate a new thread regarding the Mongoose. I admit it, I have not given this razor much love. I bought one of the first run models with the heavy handle and it was just one rough shave in my book. It did not hold up to the Cobra Classic I used from one of the pass arounds. 2 or 3 weeks ago I was browsing the bay and stumbled upon a B2 Mongoose with both handles. While I was hesitant to pick it up due to past experience, the selling price was decent enough that if I once again did not like it I would be able to sell it for what I paid and that was good enough for me.

The razor arrived about a week to 10 days ago. With the light weight handle and the B2 head, it is a much smoother shaver to me than the first run. I am getting pretty comfortable shaves with it. Adding my OneBlade to the mix and I am really starting to like SE blades.

My polished B2 really started to shine when I mated it with a lighter (Hempel Ti) handle.

I agree. I enjoy my B2 much more with lighter handles like the Hemple and Triad Ti.

I agree. I guess this makes three of us. I have a V1 and I enjoy it a lot. But you gents are right, with a lighter handle it is a better razor.

My Triad Ti Spiral paired with my Mongoose B1 was my all time favorite combo. Then the OneBlade arrived.

I love the one blade, but I am still working on dealing with my jaw line and around the nose. The shave head surface is not dainty.

Sounds like a pattern. I dumped my version 1 mongoose with the extra heavy handle because it was too heavy and hard on the face. It didn't get any better after several blood shaves. Fast forward to version 2 with a lighter handle and then the Alumigoose. I'm not sure how you could improve on the Mongoose or Alumigoose. I love the Alumigoose so much I bought two.

Do you prefer the alumigoose to the B2 with a light handle?

Nothing has cleared my jawline as easily and as close as the OneBlade. For around the nose I guess I got used to larger razor heads amongst the vintage SEs that the OneBlade size actually feels quite nimble to me, even under the nose and along my Adam's apple.
