There are two approaches each with its advantages.

The easy way is simply to use a scissors to snip off enough from each side such that the blade now sits between the posts. You can then tweak alignment before fully tightening.

The trickier but more proper way is to use a 1/8" circle punch to recreate the side slots that Gibbs put there. This is probably more secure than the first method but requires a fairly precise punch in order for the blade to align properly.

when i had one, i stacked some cutting wheels on a dremel type rotary tool and cut notches that way; you'll still want to be careful with alignment. it became a little tedious.

I have the punch tool but very fast I realized scissors cutting does the best and fastest job no hitches, there is a YT video from a french guy who does this with scissors

The punch hole system needs to be very precise or else you cannot align blade, I now Cut with scissors and a little adjusting/aligning when you put them in the razor. It works like a dream, the Gibbs razor is worth the little bit of work, s it truly is a great shaver
