I'd add that this razor is pretty much interchangeable with the Gem Featherweight razors. There are some differences in how the 2 variations of Featherweights shave along with the 2 variations of the Push Buttons but not enough that it matters when chasing the closest shave possible you can get. I think the only consideration in this case is the handle style you prefer from an ergonomics standpoint if you are prioritizing performance and if not then aesthetics as a deciding factor if you had to have only 1 of these razors.

The first image is of the GEM Clog-Pruf. A wonderful combination of smoothness and efficiency. Easy to master and a joy to use.

The next 2 pics are of the GEM Contour II if I'm correct. If not, a member with more knowledge will jump in and correct my error. Anyhow, this is the red-headed step child of the whole GEM razor line. Many claim it's to mild, or not efficient enough. Personally, I find those statements far from accurate as I have enjoyed smooth and nicely efficient shaves with this model. Why it does not work for others, I have no clue. Nevertheless, it's a very smooth operator.

I pulled out my gem clog-pruf to use 2 days ago since I hadn't used a SE or any GEM razors in quite some time. I'd agree, it's a mild shaver.

Some great info and suggestions so far. GEM razors can certainly provide a smooth, efficient shave. Just throwing something else out there...what about an injector razor? Mainly I'm thinking along the lines of a Schick G5. They're plentiful enough to obtain, and normally quite inexpensive. I feel that they're one of the best options for someone converting from a cartridge razor to a traditional-style. Anytime I use one, it almost feels like cheating. The shaves are so smooth and easygoing, and the results are never anything less than spectacular.

The one that I have used that is mild and really efficient is the Paradigm SE. Its safer than a Mach 3 and shaves closer.

Vector and paradigm se are both great. I’ve never used the General v1 or 2 but have heard good things about v2!

But for purely mild out of the 2 I listed I would likely lean toward the paradigm. Issue is finding one. Vector and general are available currently I believe.

I have changed my opinion and go with the General V2. It is simply awesome. Very safe and super efficient.

The Sabre by Blackland is a great razor. I find the level 2 to be efficient enough and very smooth.

Schick Type K1 Lady Eversharp
Tonight's blade was a Schick (21) - but not from the injector shown in photo
Wonderfully smooth in spite of a much-used blade, with BBS results.
It's a well-balanced handle that is mostly plastic, but the length compensates for it.
You really should try one of these if you come across one.
And who doesn't like a "Hydro-magic" head?

Another vote for Sabre. Also, L1 is good if you want something milder... but L2 works great.
