Mike's Natural Soap

Thanks, sounds great! Honeysuckles (the plants) can have a really nice scent to them, so I’ll have to keep my eye out and see if more batches of the soap will be produced in the future. I do have relatively sensitive skin, which is why I had to take Mike’s disclaimer seriously and see if anyone had had any issues.

I finally took Wild Honeysuckle for a spin early this morning, Matthew.  I have had a few more strongly scented soaps in the past that irritated my skin, so this was a mild concern for me as well, considering Mike's warning about the scent strength with Wild Honeysuckle.  I say, "mild concern," because I have a fairly extensive collection of Mike's flavors and have never had an issue with any of them.  And, I don't consider many of Mike's soaps mildly scented.

So, with all of this in mind, I loaded the daylights out of the Wild Honeysuckle!  I used my MS 30mm Finest Fan Brush and loaded to the point of an ultralather(term from another forum by SharpSpine and ShadowsDad?).   Thick, slick, and shiny!  I went right into a face lather and the brush got plenty of massaging face time!  Wow, this soap smells good!  The performance was the same excellent performance I receive from any of my other soaps from Mike's.  This was the ultimate sensitivity test I could put the soap through and it passed with flying colors.  No irritation from the fragrance in Wild Honeysuckle for me.  I realize that everyone's skin is different, but this is just another shaver's experience!

Rob, thanks for sharing your experience. Sounds like it’s a safe soap for even relatively sensitive skin, and your description of the lather sounds like the kind of lather we are (or should be) always looking for.

I'm still having a hard time picturing what honeysuckle smells like (floral, obviously). I'm terrible with scents. Probably doesn't help that seasonal allergies means a general aversion to simply "stopping to smell the roses", if you will.

I must try these. I have heard only good things about them.

Wild Honeysuckle, to my nose, is a sweet floral, but there seems to be a "green" component to the scent. I would think that this is a floral scent that maybe someone who doesn't have a preference for florals might like. It certainly doesn't smell like any other floral type scent that I've tried. This is a very nice spring scent(again, to my nose.)

I think it's complex actually for a single scent.

A cross between clean cotton, lilac, and a hint of pepper or savory spice way in the background. It's a great floral that isn't feminine to me. Very fresh. It somehow reminds me of a cool early morning after a little bit of rain before a long hot day ahead.

This is fairly spot on. As a kid I ran through honey suckle bushes, or at least beside them. You can smell them from a few feet away... the bushes that is. Mike's take on this is also spot on to what I remember.

Thanks guys! It's nice to know that I am smelling what I think I'm smelling. There are some folks on here who can pick out the different notes of scents in soaps, creams, AS, and EdT's. I am NOT one of those folks. I have a fairly simple nose and it usually comes down to, "It smells good!" or "I don't like the way that smells!" So, the affirmation is very much appreciated by this simple lad!
