Mike's Natural shaving soap Barbershop - my opinion

+3, I find Mike's to be one of the best soaps offered and a bit of a 'classic artisanal' soap as it was one of the earliest offerings.

Just a simple suggestion, but you might want to try soaking the puck/soap for a few minutes before loading to allow for easier pick-up with your brushes. It really is a very simple soap to lather, in my opinion. However, with all things, YMMV.

I keep trying new soaps over the years, but Mike's manages to keep it's place in the top tier without reformulating. As has been said, it is a thirsty soap. Some of the other great soaps out there probably lather a bit faster, but given a little bit of effort (not THAT much), it's always delivered.

Totally agree. Mike's is definitely in my top 2 (along with T&S). It always delivers. It doesn't get as much hype as other soaps but he seems to quietly sell out of his product. I agree the lather is thirsty but it does not require that much work and seems to tolerate hard water well. No need to change a good thing.

Thank you, I was trying not to over do the water which was way more than any other soap I have used. Next time I will try even more water. To be honest with you, I absolutely look forward to and love my shaves, however, if a soap requires way extra time and coddling, in the garbage it goes. When I used my first B & M soap and the suds were busting out at the seems, I wondered why everyone made such an issue about how it lathers. Maybe I'm just lazy? LOL

We are encouraging you to put a little extra effort because you really are missing a great product here . It is worth it.

If you can dial it in you will not be disappointed. I do best with Mike's by forming the lather on the puck then begin Dave lathering. It requires A LOT of water. Do not be afraid to continue to add water. Once you hit the correct amount of water the lather will start to form very easily on the puck.
