"I'm curious if Blades can be loaded without their thingamabob ?"

I've never seen one but my guess is possibly it does not break the blades exactly in half like you would use in a Twig otherwise why we do need the thingamabob to do it in the first place.

I did hear back from the creators of this razor during the time I was sick. I'll relay their emails over the next day or two when I have some time. basically, they're not looking to pass around their current razor at this point in time because they've tried it in the past and it was more of a hassle than it was worth for them.

This is not a new razor.  Various reviews exist on other sites since last year. Unfortunate they don’t want to pass one around. Maybe good for me since I’ve bought the last two razors I used in passarounds Smile.

here's some answers to some of the questions posted in this thread from the creator of the razor:

Quote:- The Sensor Excel was mentioned. Many of our customers have compared us to the Excel or Trac II. It does shave a lot like this razor except that there is no head pivot for now.

- We have not gotten any clogging comments from our customers. I have shaved with mine for more than a year and have thick hair. No matter how long I let it do before a shave, it never clogs. The space between the blades is big enough that hair doesn’t settle between them easily. It rinses away easily in almost all cases.

- The blade exposure looks large, but the head surrounds the cutting plane and it feels mild.

-We say it has a zero learning curve, but we might be changing this wording a bit soon. It technically has a short learning curve like picking up any razor you have never used before might. The benefits are that finding the shaving angle doesn’t have negative consequences. It either shaves or doesn’t shave as opposed to cutting you or giving you razor burn at the wrong angle. You can use a lot more pressure with it than you can with a more traditional DE razor and this has allowed a consistently short path to a good shave from customers who have never used a DE before. Some cart users do still use too much pressure or are a little too fast in shaving and this can cause nicks so we are about to add the simple message of slow down a bit if you fall into this category. All around, however, the learning curve is extremely short compared to a normal person transitioning from a cart to a traditional DE.

- You can’t load the razor without the press. Glassmtn is correct that the blade is not broken in the middle. The razor’s two piece head breaks the blade but the press is needed to line things up perfectly so that the break happens in just the right spot as the break and load happen in one motion. As gentlemen who use DE blades and are familiar with breaking them in half or are good at handling them will find, you can take the head apart and see exactly where the blade is broken. You can even load the head back together manually. But this is extremely fiddly and requires a level of dexterity that most people will want nothing to do with. It is also very easy to slip and cut yourself while trying to do this. For all of these reasons, we do not promote it in any way.
