Got this little beauty in the mail today. It's a V3A head paired with a 5 handle. After feeling the weight of the handle I hope I didn't over do it with getting the aggressive head. I guess I will find out tomorrow. I'll give it a first go around with a Treet silver which is fairly mild.

It's a beauty. And it must have been costly.

A Treet Silver? Those aren't easy to get, are they? My friend Shemp at B and B started a thread on that blade, and he sent me only one of those blades.

Actually, Maggard razors are very affordable. Check it out:

I've been eying that MR5 handle for a long time. I really like it. Nice score Vilhauer! Let us know how it shaves.

I got mine on eBay a few weeks ago. I think I paid $10 for 110 of them. It's a really nice blade. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried them. They are still selling them. As far as the razor goes it was only $27 including shipping.

Very nice looking razor. I like the heavier handles and own two from Maggard, the MR8 and MR11. Let us know what you think of the V3A. Maggard says it has a little bit of alignment issue but easy enough to work around. I'm interested in the V3 which they say has "no alignment issues, whatsoever." The V3A is a better looking head though due to the color which I find very appealing, but I'm afraid it might be too efficient for my sensitive skin. Would love to hear feedback on it nonetheless and I hope you enjoy it.

Honestly I did not have a problem getting the blade to align.  there is a little bit of movement but I just held the ends of the razor with one hand and screwed the handle with the other. As far as the shave went it was great. I got a BBS with three passes, last one being ATG. There was not much irritation to be had. I just let the weight of the handle do the work for me and really enjoyed the shave. As I said before I used a mild blade. Once I am done with the Treet silver I may try something a little more aggressive like a Rapira PL or a Polsilver and see how that goes. Overall I give it two thumbs up and can't wait for the sequel.Big Grin

how is the plating on the newer maggard heads? was thinking about buying a few for starter razors for some people but the older heads looked terrible imo.
