Maggard open comb razor v2

Just got the head in the mail today and paired it with 7 handle. Truth be told I hate open combs since all are hard on my skin but this one works and works well. Looking for a CHEAP, well made smooth open comb razor head, this one might do the trick. I owned the v1 and it reminded me of a crappy old Gillette (gillette butterfly designs excluded...). The V2 head is a different animal all together. The customer service is stellar as always with Maggards.

Disclaimer: I bought it with my own loot. I do not own shares in Maggard (but would hardly refuse one if it were offered) These are just my thoughts and experience. lastly, aside from this one I do in fact hate open combs safety razors.

In the back of my mind I'm always wondering if it's my technique or razor.  I give the open comb a shot, severe redness and razor burn, go back to the closed bar, and back to normal.  I let it go, see a new open comb on the market, and I give the open comb a shot (again) rinse and repeat.  So gave the Maggards a shot, no redness, no irritation and a comfortable shave.  I could use it as a regular driver for sure.  The profile of the razor is actually close to an R41 without the huge blade exposure.  The V1 reminded me of a Yuma.  Better quality for sure but a thin baseplate with a slight bend.  The V2 has a nice heft and the razor pins are nice and thick keeping the blade well in place.   No fussing with keeping the blade straight and trying to tighten it down straight.  There are several excellent improvements.  I no longer have the v1 otherwise I would post the two but they are so different they could have relaunched and no one would have missed the first run, at least I wouldn't.

The Maggard V2 is a re-branded Parker 26C. It is a very good razor, although I would never have even thought of comparing it with an R41 as the V2 is much closer to a mild razor, albeit, quite a good one.

No worries beamon I was wondering if I had inadvertently implied that OC razors were not great.

It does look like a Parker head and is stamped made in India. Great shaver IMHO, efficient but not a maneater.

I was looking at the R41 recently so I had it on my mind, thanks for the catch. Very mild and smooth. You know, I use the term mild to describe a non-aggressive razor that is efficient, comfortable and shaves well. I know some have used the term mild in a negative way but for my purposes it's extremely positive.

Looks like the Pearl OC head that I ordered and have coming in the mail. It's good to know that it's a comfortable, smooth shaving head.
