It is not at all uncomfortable. Just a bit different that's all....some seem to like a little scritch to massage the face.
Doesn't bother me but another poster likened it to porcupine quills...so its a subjective thing.

I have a Simpsons Trafalgar T3 - great brush. I’m hoping to get something even better. Looking at G7s and G5 SHDs. There’s so much variety out there that it’s tough to really know what you’re going to like.

My first, and only, synthetic is a Simpson Chubby. I’m still learning the art of shaving.

Have you tried the Simpsons Trafalgar line?  Wondering if anyone has compared the knot used in these brushes to the G5C.

I have a Frank’s shaving G4 that hasn’t held up well - I think that the knot wasn’t set well in production - maybe a glue problem. I use it for travel.

And it's a keeper and will be a fabulous travel brush.  Worth trying. Hard to go wrong.

I'm not a fan normally of synthetic brushes but I am enjoying the G5C more than I thought I would.  Not enough to replace my badger brushes but still nice.  In fact mine is in a Maritime handle go figure, though I don't think many people know of him he has some real stunners.  Often times his handles sell before I can even get to see them but there have been I couple I wish I could have purchased.

I have one of these Muehle 25mm STF knots and like it.
Between this and an Omega Evo, these are all I use.
I still favour the Omega by a bit.
The Evo feels softer and a tad more luxurious to my cheeks.
The Muhle has a bit of pokiness/scritch that feels a bit more bracing,
and awakens the facial follicles, I suppose (I don't mind, but it must be noted).

Bracing? Face lathering with my Mühle STF felt like I was being attacked by an angry porcupine!

How poky are we talking, I enjoy untreated badger hair with a good backbone but I don't want the brush to remove my hair before I even put a razor to my face.
Lololol, love this guy.  Finally…. We need more humour here, I’m tired of working alone!

Everyone deserves a good chuckle every once in a while.

I did recently have Rudy make me a very nice keyhole with a 25mm STF knot and will say I agree.  It is the best synthetic I have experienced so far if your looking for something like a 2-band untreated knot.  It may not replace some of the best 2-band custom knots out there but its better than many.  I wonder if this knot in a 27-28 or a ex density type version would make it perfect, of course I know nothing about creating a synthetic knot so I wont try to tell anyone how to.  At any rate the STF has become the brush I go for when I am traveling since its so easy to clean and dries quick, and it has made its way into my brush rotation although not as much as my highest quality 2-band brushes.  I still really like the G5C I have but the STF is an improvement.

The thing I really like about the STF is it acts a lot like a 2-band with nice soft tips while still requiring some pressure to splay and being able to create a scrubbing sensation.  Most synthetics I have used are either soft and floppy with little to no scrub or stiff and pokey.

BTW love your drawings.
