Leaf Shave DFS pass around

I had my 2nd head shave on Friday with the leaf razor. At first it's not bad, but I ended up switching to my cartridge to finish the job as the handle length and razor weight started to fatigue my hand a little bit.

I wish someone would make a decent pivoting cartridge out of plastic that we could use DE blades in for head shaving. I'd be all over it..

Follow-up. As most head shavers will know, when you shave your head any uneven shaving will show after 20 hours. At 30 hours it will be very obvious if the shave was spotty. For example, I use an I1 injector with Schick prolines to do the area around my ears. If I use a relatively dull cart at 30 hours I will notice the growth difference.With the Leaf after 30 hours my growth was very very patchy. Same on the face but for that I had to rub my fingers around my neck.

3rd shave was a head shave only as I couldn't convince myself to use this instead of a str8. I am positive this razor clogs and that might push the blades forward. This time I rinsed and then opened blade by blade cleaning and the last blade was always cacked. My lather was wet and I can't imagine how it would be with canned goo. I agree with Andrew: the handle is unnecessarily long, its very thin and it resembles a pen more than anything else. When I look at the box it comes in I believe the developers/designers thought of that as a good thing. In use IMO it is not a good thing at all. The razor is an interesting proposition that, IMHO needs more work, more testing, more refining.

I did, but I learned my lesson last time. Now I rinse every 3 strokes. I have to say on my head most carts tend to clog. Even a GEM clog pruf.

interesting. I've only had that problem when I was using shaving oil of coconut oil. ever since switching over to a cream or a shaving soap puck that I rub on my head, I haven't really had any clogging problems.

have you tried using a gillette guard yet?

Andrew, I just received a package with G Guards from India. Will give them a try soon.
For now, GEM clog pruf is great for a first pass. Then I follow with a cart. Feather MR3 is the winner, second place for headblade moto. Mach3 and Bic sensitive are at the bottom.

Also, the leaf is on the road and on its way to VA. I added a couple Kai blades in case someone wants to try them and doesn't have any.

Sorry I missed that. I think the follow-up post summarizes my assessment. By rinsing every 3 strokes (short 1-1.5 inches long) I was able to significantly reduce buildup. I guess with a couple slices off my head it was hard to rely on the superficial visual assessment so I opened the blade holding mechanism and rinsed after each pass to make sure there was not buildup. Since I noticed some buildup (mostly on the bottom blade this time) there was more of that sense of urge to rinse, rinse, rinse. IMO it is an interesting proposition that needs more work. Oh, the finish scratches quickly as well.

Received the razor earlier in the week and been shaving with it. Reminds me very much of the Focus Dynamic, but little more efficient (probably due to the multiple blades).

Will have more thoughts later. I plan on shipping it out early next week to the Lipripper660.
