Hi all,

Leaf Shave sent me some products over for us to do a pass around on the forum and to provide some feedback.  If you'd like to be added to the list, please reply to this thread that you're interested and what state you're in.  I'm thinking maybe a week with the product is sufficient for a few shaves and some feedback before sending it off to the next person in line.

Here's what they sent over (the photos aren't the best!):

The razor has landed and I am two shaves in. Two full head and face shaves.
Here is what comes in the box.

You don't have to be an engineer to see there is an engineer mind set behind this.
If in doubt, take a look at the trimmer.

I am a little time short so I will keep the shave report brief:

First shave I used the blades that come with the razor. The stamping reminded me of Israeli Personnas, which I like, so I gave them a go. Three halfs in.
The was so mild it didn't go past my thin yet dense MdC lather. The pivot spring doesn't aloud for a lot of pressure so it just glided on top of the lather. The result of 4 passes and touch up reminded me of Mach3 shaves that greatly contributed to my research on shaving and interest in wetshaving. Difference being with this razor I was not able to press hard enough to get the irritation I got while chasing BBS with the Mach3.

So, for shave 2 I had to try something different and the obvious solution to the blade problem was using a KAI blade: wider than most (or all) other blades and maybe my favorite blade.

Shave 2 was very very different. From the get go the razor went down to the skin and it works quite well. It rinses off easily. Face shave went fine.
Head shave started just as fine, until pass two ATG. Near the end strokes felt less comfortable and I finally got a couple real good cuts. I didn't understand what was going on. I checked blade alignment and it seemed fine. Rinsed off and checked again and I start seeing what I thing caused the problem: the razor seems to rinse just fine, but lather and especially stubble builds behind the blades to a point in which it pushed the blade out right in the middle. Head shavers will know that you get quite a but more hair on a single stroke from the back of your head.

Picture after a nice and blood free pass.

Post shave I see what might be confirmation: I can see a pattern were the shave went from smooth to little irritation, to red bumps and then cuts. I don't think I will give up but honestly I am a little hesitant as it is hard to impossible to tell if stubble is building behind the blades. Will post with updates.

Andrew, thanks for the opportunity.

note: I did play around with the razor and IMO with three blades you get the most comfort as the head sits flat on the skin.

Good report. Keep us posted on build up. Glad it went to a head shaver first.
