Good news:  The USPS outdid itself, and the package arrived today, a day early.  Thank you draebeard

I am not used to seeing so much beautiful hardware come out of a single parcel, and it was very impressive to see the hardware and custom case in person. Happy   I plan to shave with one of the heads tomorrow and post my impressions.

Today's shave WOWED me - specifically the razor.  I decided to start with the 1.2mm head and work my way down, and I was surprised at how uber smooth and efficient the 1.2mm head was.  I was shaving with an eye on the clock too, and I still ended with a "bloodless", glass smooth BBS.  "Bloodless" is in quotes because I made one careless, totally user error, and got a nick to show for it.  But other than that, my mug was squeaky clean and felt great.  Besides, IMO the need for full attention is a small price to pay for a razor that performs like this.

A few other things surprised me:  First, the balance worked fine for me, although I thought this head/handle combo might feel a bit head heavy.  Also, I found myself gravitating to the OC side of the plate, whereas I usually prefer SBs.  Actually, it was quite convenient have both.  The SB came in very handy on one particular patch of my skin that always insists on maximum TLC, and it is also a bit better suited to edging my goatee.

I feel like a kid who is just old enough to think twice about love at first sight.  ... And then Augustin announces a sale.  Hmm? Confused2

A very good review, Mike, thanks! The razor in the photo immediately caught my eye, and your review was a wonderful read. I look forward to reading more as your time with the razor continues.

I decided to try the 1.2mm head one more time, using a heavier handle.  As it turns out, I liked Augustin's lighter handle somewhat better, but both did the job well enough.  The razor was once again a pleasure to use, and it made short, sweet work of my two day growth.  And as always, the La Toja products were both fun and effective to use.

I know the goods have got to move on down the road, so I will be shaving with one of the lighter heads next. I am highly impressed with the 1.2, and eager to see what kind of mojo in the lighter heads is waiting to be brought to life.
